IIRC, I saw an article way back that the Flyers were getting assistance from the Eagles Front Office to help navigate the NHL Salary Cap at one point. It’s not unheard of to seek outside help.

to me they should be allowed to play until proven guilty.

Scary to think about, not just for Flyers. Billion dollar sports teams that rely on an amateur project website to to get incredibly important information about their cap or other's.

Great purchase for Ted Leonsis knowing other teams were that far in the stone age.

With enough investment, every team should have an internal system in place WITHIN a week. Seems like a small project for so many companies not to have it already.

This was pretty much my take. But then Tomahawk said the site had some private contract analytics which might have been what Caps want to especially get their hands on and possibly amalgamate in their FO.

I see it all of the time in my job. Multi-million dollar companies that refuse to implement current business practices. Some of the systems these companies use are literally from the 80's.

Is there a specific industry you are referring to?

Btw, this is why mgmt consultancy is so lucrative. You have some youngsters go into companies and essentially use a crash course in knowledge and some intelligent analysis to tell guys who have been working for decades what to do in their jobs. Because those latter guys are trapped in their fossilized cocoons and cannot see the wood for the trees.

Latest mock draft from the whole Athletic staff:
https://www.nytimes.com/a...ource=user_shared_article

If the draft falls this way Flyers gotta make a trade for #11. Farabee & Laughton or TK and a 2nd for #11. I’d be willing to add more to get it done as you know other teams will be looking to acquire that pick to take D!ckinson.

If they could come away from this draft with D!ckinson and Catton, it’s a huge step forward in the rebuild. That would potentially solve their 1D and 2C issues.

I will say….it would be ballsy for management to pass on him. I like the player so I wouldn’t mind it.

Some have him as high as 5 to MTL.

A lot of consulting is just people coming in asking the day to day workers what’s the issue and how would they fix it and then the consultants just regurgitate that back to the executive team. The executives eat it up because they can’t imagine their own people have solutions.

It’s also the result of companies only promoting “yes men” so there’s nobody internally to point out the issues.

It’d probably be best for both if they pass on him. From what I’ve read he’s not stylistically like his dad. You’re going to have fans expecting Jarome and he’s not Jerome. The expectations will be way higher on him there than some other places. I also have a tough time seeing them pass on a defenseman if they’re available.

Yes and no. I do some consulting that end users wouldn’t really know unless they are working on the internal structure of systems.
Having your employees say this is outdated and we need new stuff.
I can break it down yes your system is older but with what you need I wouldn’t update. In saying that I would start to budget replacing the whole thing.
I’ve also told CEO’s or VP’s that the system needs to be replaced asap that throwing money at it is pointless. A friendly reminder that the current system doesn’t meet code in most areas. Please sign here and accept all liability because you have been informed.
When state inspectors want to see the inspection form and it’s full of discrepancies I advise them to have a plan in place already to remedy what’s wrong.

Everyone knows Calgary wants him so if you’re picking ahead of them I’d leak that info too.

I was really high on him then found out his boosted numbers this year came after he switched to wing. If we could trade TK or Farabee straight up for a quality young center I’d be for drafting Tij to fill the winger spot. Definitely would not be looking at him that early to play center.

Michkov will fill that wing spot. I’d still be targeting defense and centers. Catton, Helenius, Hage would be my center targets, even if they trade for a young center.

Laine to Philly
8.7 …..2 years
2025 1rst round pick.

Risto 5.1 ….3 years
Atkinson 5.8 …..1 year. To CLB….

Laine is currently in the NHL substance abuse program. To make it work $ wise for this year the Flyers could retain 2.2 million this year on Cams contract. That contract on Laine comes with a big risk and to me deserves that 1rst round pick…

Yes it will never happen just spit balling.

I wonder who wins the bidding war for Markstrom- NJ or OTT. Who cracks and gives up a top 10 pick for a 34: yr old goalie making 6 million over the next 2 years? I think the Debs end up giving the best package.

Tij in Calgary might not be a good thing. All eyes would be on him and the pressure/comparisons could be crippling. Might be better to go to a different market to grow your game and eventually sign there down the road.

It’s really odd this year. Every mock has a completely different result. Pick 1 is the only real universal consensus. The draft is going to fun.

I’d agree as well. However, every case stands on its own merit.

On one hand, you couldn’t let a camp counselor accused of molesting kids remain on the job til proven guilty. Yet on the other hand, if even one of the players is found not guilty, how does he get his missed years back?

Situation sucks! Just hope it plays out fair for all involved. We only hear what the press tells us, and I don’t trust them as far as I can throw ‘em. So we pontificate on data that may or not be correct. As I said, I just hope it’s just, and a fair outcome.

Looks like pick 7 is up for sale. Demidov gets past 5, Briere try to move up. Rumor was last year he offered Gauthier for #5.

I said a while back this pick is the one that realistically could be had for Konecny type deal….Ottawa needs players now.
