As of now, Poehling isn't as good as Laughton is. Not close. - MJL
Numbers wise, it was very close. If Briere could get a late 1st for Laughton, he should do it, and then hire a DJ for the locker room.

You can't trade Laughton. Need him around so the Flyers remain the NHL's #1 ranked locker room, and for the 2025 and 2026 playoff pushes.
https://www.nhl.com/news/scott-laughton-emotional-heartbeat-for-philadelphia-flyers#:~:text=He's%20seen%20the%20value%20Laughton,than%20fair%20value%20to%20us.
"I was upfront with him," Briere said. "I told him that I wasn't shopping him. I wasn't going to trade him for fair value because he's more than fair value to us. The intangibles that he brings to the locker room is something that has no price. The other teams don't see that, but we do. I told him that we're not going to trade you if it’s just a fair trade. Someone would have to overstep and really knock it out of the ballpark for us to consider it.
"I did listen. I had a lot of teams interested in him, as you can imagine. ... But not good enough for us to let a player like that go, that is critical to the development of our locker room and the guys around him." - Feanor
He should be so great that Buffalo could use him and send us that 11 overall pick.

I would be going after Toronto's #23. Retain 50% and send Laughts back home to Ontario.

Its insane. And it scares me now what they may resign him at when his contract expires. There is no way he fits the timeline. |

I would say it’s more the executives that are the stooges. The consultants coming in are smart to get info from the actual employees because they’re in the day to day. In some cases maybe they offer new ideas but usually the execs could get the solutions from their own workforce if they asked. The other problem is the corporate culture where offering a dissenting opinion is typically frowned upon. That creates a culture of “yes men.” Many execs think they’re better than their workers and paying some young hot shot with an MBA is going to know more about the issues.
It’s honestly like technology, I see companies all the time run by tech bros thinking the hot new tech is somehow going to make things better when it often just makes things worse.
It’s all just shiny new toy syndrome. - Schmojo
All I am saying is that while this effect may be prevalent, it cannot be dominant. Because then the rent extracted (aka fees) charged by consultants would fall (or at least, the fees of the top tier consultants would fall), as others would rush in to replicate their easily replicable efforts.

maybe give DB the off-seaon, I have no issue with DB making it clear they want an overpay. I will have an issue if SL is on the roster at TDL 2025. |

You are over valuing Laughton. He and 12 dont get you to 7..Maybe add Frost and you are there - hfc355
You’re all wrong! Chuck Fletcher’s trade App will have to be utilized and only then will the correct trade value be ascertained. For example, I’m sure no one realized a few years back that Risto would bag #14 and Hague. But for Fletcher’s brilliant use of his App, things would be so different. |

Why wouldn't he be? The guy is bringing back all the fans. Most marketable coach in team history. Probably the biggest single money maker they've had since #88. |

How much are intangibles worth?
At least Jeannot had a (improbable) 20-goal season under his belt. |

The bricks, who think themselves notorious for genius, abound in this brickyard.
Any moment now and they will self-assemble into something worthwhile.
If Danny says wonderful things, as an executive, it is as an executive.
Why would he reveal anything but compliments about a player who is subject to trade?
The team, the player, and potential trade partners all have good feelings and it costs only words to firm up a negotiation stance.

I wonder why other NHL teams haven't tried to purchase the app. Like Washington bought Capfriendly

Hilferty took over a franchise with a bit of an identity crisis. They weren't a lottery team. They weren't a tough team. They weren't a skill team. They were a somewhat insipid team. You can't sell insipid.
Now, they have an identity. They are building the roster (all those draft picks!). They are building a culture of accountability. The malingerers and malcontents are gone. The fans are almost all back. The building is often rocking.
All done by one man. The one who doesn't know his top prospect in the continent from a "hole in the wall"
I would think Hilferty fellates Torts every morning.

After all the uproar about Torts ruining Hayes’ trade value you’d think fans would appreciate DB trying to pump up Laughton’s. |

Danny is just another in a long line of Flyers players that haven’t gotten it done that looks out for other guys who haven’t gotten it done either. This is the heart of what’s wrong with the franchise. Blind allegiance in the face of reality. |
