Sorry to hear about the calamity. I’ve lost numerous friends and acquaintances from the stuff. The fentanyl/drug pandemic isn’t getting any light in the media meanwhile it’s taking over town by town.

I have faith in Yzerman to make the right choice. And if he fails he will learn from it, so either way I’m grateful that he’s in the GM position and not any of us. People need to be patient in a rebuild.

Was it Debrincat he asked about using the cabbage in pre draft interviews? I honestly can’t remember, but i think he did it as a joke. That aside, Yzerman and Lidstrom do put a premium on how a person acts as time moves on. too many pros go way too soon. Thanks for that note. The insanity is terrifying when it blows up.

What does a potential Patrik Laine scenario look like?
It looks to me a lot like the Jakub Vrana debacle in Detroit and St. Louis. But Yzerman has had a track record of repeating the same mistakes with bad contracts these days, so who knows? Maybe he’ll take a flyer on him.

I’ve actually been to your listed home town. Drove in on Darwin rd and found like one gas station selling t shirts!

Laine’s 8.7m is as much a hurdle as anything. Utah could probably get a nice haul to take the full hit. For Wings you’d need retention, a bad contract shipped out, and if you clap loud enough and believe with all your heart that deal may just come to life. Otherwise you’re stuck in Never Never land without the ability to fly
