In hindsight…

The 2 big reaches for JV & OHJ really were the big dominos to fail. Those 2 picks alone didn’t have to be home runs just had to be good. All that followed eg trading picks & poor UFA signings for term look like desparation flops. It all added up to more wasted seasons than necessary retooling properly. No assets in return for UFA’s was piss poor asset management. OEL was the last straw.

Having a cheap owner not hiring experience & not spending enough on the front office & dreaming of winning & money was the root of it all. It only spiralled downhill from there that lasted too long.

We’ll never know truly why TL was fired but my guess is Weisbrod & JB were merely puppets who were the real problems. The entire mgmt staff was horrible & has since been rebuilt bigger & better. Leads me to believe that FA always was the circus leader who finally got experienced hockey ppl like JR & gave him the autonomy to rebuild mgmt from the ground up in every way he sought needed from the farm mgmt & location to more mgmt staff etc.

I turned the game off after the 1st and enjoyed the rest of my night outside in the summer weather
