I haven't seen it discussed much, Necas would cost but TT is a FA correct? Just have to pay him

What does everyone think about it him? While he's been away, has he been drinking pickle juice and doing power lifting?

What do you think the Hawks should be looking for in free agency? A defenseman or forward or both? If it’s a forward a skill guy or a more physical type guy?

Ideally, i would like to see Necas and more physical guy to play with him and Bedard.

Ideally, usually doesn't happen.

For this part of the rebuild, i'd at least like to see Bedard with better linemates.

Tarasenko 2 years $4 mil. Is s contract right up KD’s alley. Had 60 points between Ottawa ,
and Florida.

- LAHawk

He can play with Hall and Bedard in 24/25 and he might get to play with Demidov and Bedard in 25/26!

Although you didn’t ask, I’ll tell you what I think.

I’d like to see if KD can find some young guy who can’t crack his current team’s lineup because of a logjam of players. Nick Robertson on Toronto for example, maybe a Kakko, or a Shane Wright or someone like that. A veteran would be great also but if at all possible I’d love to see someone who can possibly be part of the core.

Who reported the Hawks were interested in Laine? I thought it was someone here?
- vabeachbear

the internet says the hawks are interested in every top wing available.

some reporter tweeted that the Hawks were looking for one top line forward and one middle line forward.

Would like to see them add a couple fwds with one being Debrusk. If the asking price for Necas is too high for KFC they can always pivot to another UFA.

One of Marchessault, Guentzel, TT, Duchene, Tarasenko would work if they can get them on a deal where the term isn’t lengthy.

I’m anticipating another interesting offseason, with this one having Davidson shopping in a better aisle.

I don’t know if Lebrun tweeted that but it was in his column yesterday in The Athletic.

DeBrusk would be a good signing at what is projected to be 5 years $5.8 mil. I wouldn't give him much more than that either in term or in AAV.

My concern is that the knock on deBrusk is his inconsistency, Five plus years for an inconsistent player is a sort of a yellow flag for me.

Hawks can have Necas. Carolina wants a first and an A prospect. Does KD want to pay the price?

And you have to sign him to a contract you are comfortable with.

- LAHawk

Exactly LA. Agree 100%.

I wrote in the last blog that Carolina wants star power in return for Necas. I doubt if the Canes think Reichel or Kurashev as stars. The Allen, Kaiser, Dach types won't get it done either. Korchinski or Vlasic probably better fit the description and likely would have to be included in the package along with a high pick.

No reason the Hawks should settle for the cap floor. Might as well overpay and get guys on 1-2 year deals so we can surround our young guys with experience and talent. And not have to rush up the guys who aren't ready.

I'd offer Stamkos 2 year 9 mil per

If the Hawks can sign/trade for a high skill guy, I'd love to see them follow that up with Joshua, and a reasonable RHD to pair with KK. There's got to be better options than Megna/Tinordi

There was reported Blackhawk interest in Tampa's Jeanot, but not as Bedsy's winger.

This a good list of pending UFA's with projected salaries. It's a couple of weeks old, and one or two players have re-upped with their teams.

Maybe one of you can recall his name.
This guy only posted on the Coyote’s part if this site, and then eventually became the blogger.

He spent much of his time debating how the then OEL was the leagues best all around defenseman to the point of nauseam. He refused to back down on this assessment. No one could come near to OEL defensive godliness.

Although I never thought twice that it was ludicrous but it is interesting how after OEL was traded to Vancouver, how he seemed on the downslide, enough that they didn’t see value in keeping him around after the Hronek acquisition from Detroit.

After watching him partnered with veteran Kulikov in Florida, you really get to look at his intense buy-in and desire to win his first Cup. He is using his body and some snarl even after the whistle.

That would be James Tanner. He'd always get all fired up the second someone disagreed with him, or posted anything even remotely not to his liking. It would then devolve into name calling and would always end with some sort of political statement. Those were fun times.

Tanner something or something Tanner wasn't it? Didn't he end up writing something that he couldn't back peddle on and then he disappeared.

Giving up Vlasic or KK is a non starter for me. Probably Nazar and Moore as well. They can pick from our plethora of D-men coming up. Also not getting the 2nd pick.

The more I read about both Laine and Eiserman, the more I think they're the same guy. Obviously, having a guy with that kind of shot is intriguing, but they do very little else. Can they be taught? If so, how much effort will they put into doing the right things?

I can't help but look at teams like Toronto and EDM and think that a 200' game is more valuable to the team than a guy who only fills the net (not to mention that the Hawks already have one of those in Bedard). Yes you need skill, but maybe a kid like Brandsegg-Nygard (adds a little size as well). Not the sexiest pick, but maybe more of what they need.

What happened to Edmonton at the end of the game where the puck was stuck on the boards by Florida just can't happen. You have to have guys like Toews, Hossa and Sharp, Bolland and Krueger who can get it out.

Necas for
#18, Murphy, and prospect Phillips, but I too would like to keep #18 just because I am intrigued by the possible prospects available there.

It is easier for the 'canes to sell their fanbase a trade that includes a NOW defender, a little older farm prospect IF it includes a pick too.
Can the dreal get donw with #34 instead?

I don't know Necas' mind, the Cane's management's mind or Kyle's urgency.

Carolina may want a cost effective defenseman (to offset their departures) besides their Chatfield re-up.

Did you notice how smart Barkov was on that play? The puck ended up on his stick, and instead of firing it up the boards, or try carrying it or passing, he just put it back in the scrum. THAT is hockey sense.
