Forget the Russian issue, but Demidov suffered 2 Kner injuries this year, including in the finals when he was seen on crutches. Does that disqualifiy him also? Has anyone seen him on skates since?
- LAHawk

All the injuries to all of these players will be investigated by all the teams involved. Demidov’s knee injury, Lindstrom’s back and wrist and all other injuries and I’m sure every player has had some.

Lumbar Disc Herniation is a common athletic injury and is overcome with exercise, it very rarely requires surgery.

Herniated discs are a very common problem with many athletes and can be chronic but they can also be a one and done issue. The biggest red flag is if surgery is required to repair the problem. In most cases exercise and a stretching program can prevent a recurrence. Should teams be concerned, yes but not overly.

Paul, hes 18… its not going to get better especially with the abuse he will take in hockey.

Apparently doing squats is what caused it. And it doesn’t necessarily become chronic but can be. I know you want Demidov but passing on unqualified incorrect information to a group of internet posters won’t make that happen.
- paulr

Paul, what incorrect informstion am I passing along? I am assuming you agree that not having it is better than having it. A herniated disc does not heal itaself with exercise. It only helps mitigate its effects and makes it liveable for a normal person. Hope im wrong.

50 years ago:
New York Rangers star forward Rod Gilbert underwent spinal fusion surgery at a New York City hospital. Early indications suggest that the operation was a complete success. The operation, which took over three hours, was performed by Dr. Kazuo Yanagisawa, the Rangers club physician.
He played at a hifgh level afterward.

Was anyone expecting Lindstrom to play in the pros nxt year?

Have these surgeries improved vastly in 50 years?

I would not believe it IF he DID drop to #18.

(I guess I will change my board...)

For every one you point out positive, I bet there is 30 that weren't.

Don't care what anyone says, someone as big as him with back issues at 17 and 18 I'm not taking with my premium picks.

Period, end of discussion. I'll take my chances being wrong.

Havard medical, Cleveland clinic and the mayo clinic said that the disk can heal over time depending on the severity of the tear and steps taken to let it heal.

Kinda depends on the patient. Doesn't seem to be chronic unless it isn't treated or its injured again due to not letting it heal

Do you think when those 3 institutions said that, they took into consideration playing 82 games of NHL hockey

If KD did take Lindstrom, and said the medicals checked out, this board would be bashing him to no end for taking a damaged player with 2 or 18.

For the next two years can you imagine any injury he would sustain, what the narrative here would be...............

I'd consider him at 34 if the meds checked out.

If indeed he has a herniated disk, hard pass. The Hawks cannot miss on pick #2, I still think that they go with Levshunov with their first pick, then forward/forward. Thirteen more days and we will find out.

I’d consider taking him based on what the medical report NHL teams are using. A herniated disc is extremely common and there are different grades of injury with different prognosis of recovery. Over half the Canadian Rugby team members have had a herniated disc and after treatment none has impacted the player and the injury hasn’t recurred. Herniated discs qualified with ‘degenerative’ or injuries requiring surgery are the red flag issues. Herniated discs are very common and can be treated with exercise and stretching regimens resulting in long term success unless there are other medical conditions associated.

I’d take him at 18, though he’ll be long gone by then.

That's probably what you said about Oliver Moore last year.

Eiserman will be there, haven't you heard, he can't skate or play D

If he is there at 18 by all means draft him I personally would rather Hage.
Hawks take Josh Norris korpoisolo and 7th overall pick for the 18th and 34th picks from Chicago. Di you do this deal

Me too.

In 1991, he was at the Stadium while they were filming "Only the Lonely" in chicago, so of course I dip right in, and had no idea Ally Sheedy was next to him.
I told them my script ideas for him as the head coach in Slap Shot TWO, and he laughed.

I would make those moves. Mainly because I want to draft either Silayev or Yakemchuk even at 7th Norris plus Nazar = two more legitimate scoring forwards. Maybe Hayes is here half a season and is a legitimate scorer. KD might still add someone although perhaps Anthansieu leaves? I don’t know what Murphy could bring but I nix deals with Varolina because they want more than I would pay for Necss. And Utah shouldn’t rush unto deals they don’t need to make henceforth we keep S Jones another year. We need him for at least next season

Does anyone know the condition of Norris’ shoulder, which has kept him out of good portions od the last two seasons? Considering the teeth gnashing here about an unknown injury, imagine if it was about a known one.
