People were worried about coots feelings about getting scratched and demoted.

Imagine the complaints if they shut him down.

Players play through these injuries all the time. It's up to the player who they are shut down and get the surgery.

Bob is one win away from a guaranteed spot in the HHOF.

Meanwhile the Flyers are still cutting checks to Bryz

Actually you are wrong. NHL teams have primary say over a players medical treatment.

Rightly or wrongly, I really doubt Coots would have agreed to be shut down if he felt he could still play through it, especially as a leader of a team with little to no nightly margin.

We know of a lot of players who have been deified for playing through much worse. Tkachuk scoring that huge goal last year with a separated shoulder being a more recent example. Like no doctor would have recommended a guy with a separated shoulder play but hockey culture kinda tends to reward guys who pop a couple of percs, take an injection and power through.

Then the team has to shut him down. He was apparently trying to play at the end of last season and they wouldn’t allow it. No reason they couldn’t have done the same thing this season.

Also, big difference between playing hurt in the playoffs vs playing hurt on a team that’s supposed to be rebuilding.

Hockey culture is bad in that way. They glorify playing injured when often times it’s to the detriment of the team and the player. Why did Risto wait until the season was over to get surgery. If he gets surgery sooner his recovery is done sooner.

Actually, I have to word this correctly as I wish him no ill will. I hope Ristolainen recovers enough to live a good life but not to be able to play hockey.

So Lindstrom recovering from a herniated disk in his back, still on the board and the Flyers are on the clock. Will be a little spicy-ultimate high risk, high reward.

Edmonton is in a real weird spot assuming they get swept on the biggest stage. No real prospects to speak of and they only have one pick in the first four rounds of this draft (late 2nd rounder). On top of that I’m seeing 10 pending UFAs on their roster.

They seriously might have to decide between McDavid and Leon and move the other one to restock sooner rather than later.

You're already in the spirit of the moment. 😂 Health issues (Lindstrom), geopolitical concerns (Demidov), and potential attitude issues (Connelly). Picks 12 and 32 could be so spicy then age old on ice ceiling potential. Swing big Briere!!!!

I'm willing to take that chance with Demidov (BFFs) and Connelly (social media is worthless), but I'd pass on Lindstrom....so that means the Flyers will take him and tell the media and fans there is no concerns then by year 4 he retires.

We could have hired Bill Zito.
Instead we hired Chuck. Enjoy the summer!
Can't wait for all of the brilliant discussion here.

Demidov and Michkov and friends and text one another regularly. I don’t see him falling that far. But if they could move up for him that would really be an interesting opportunity for them to grow together and support each other.

You are pathetic. If your boy Hexy traded for Risto, you'd be making excuses after excuses about how Torts and the previous coaches ruined him. I still think you should join the Sabres forum since you hate the Flyers so much. They could use your expertise!

I’d start with moving Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. I’m amazed he survived the overhaul of Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle.

I was impressed Nug scored those two goals against DAL and pretty much won them a huge game. But the guy is soft. I’d trade him as well. They need a goalie and D. I think they can compete next year is they tweak a little. The following year they might need to blow it up. But this is what a window looks like. I’d happily trade our culture building and middle round picks for a window like this.

We all have opinions and thoughts and hopes and wishes. Some are dumber than others, I’ve sure had some boneheaded ideas. Im sure Zito would’ve been so much better than Fletcher just by walking in the door. It’s frustrating for all Flyers fans and this blog is a nice outlet. I’ve called it group therapy before.

It’s fun and therapeutic as a flyers fan to share the frustration with the group. If and when they get exciting and start to play winning hockey and have a plan, it’ll be even more fun to celebrate with this crew.

Although they have 2 of the best players in the world, I really don’t think they are as close to a cup as it appears and I don’t see them as perennial contenders moving forward as constructed. As soon as the brackets were set, I said to myself that the oilers have a great path to the final here. Dallas takes out Vegas then Colorado and then the oil only have to beat LA and van city. I think dallas was cooked by the time they got to the semis.

They don’t have a strong goaltender nor do they have a great d.

Agree…my boner included thinking Frost would top line AHLer.
I stand corrected as he has really grown as a player. If he had someone to finish next year look out.
I hope for the best too.

I kind of think all the top D prospects will be gone by #12.

I am actually leaning towards Helenius 1st and Catton 2nd if either are available when they get to the stage.
