The format is stupid should be top 16 teams no matter if they all from east or west then you truly get best on best and matchups that are impossible with current format. Imagine flames /oilers cup final or any other possible matches that are not possible now ? It’s really simple get rid of bettman and bring in new blood that will make these changes to make the game better overall !! - Hockeyfan4life14

But now, the best team is winning - TrueGrit
Point was that Edmonton wasn’t the best team in the west. They’re still McD Drai and poop. Shut down their PP and top guys and win. |

Sure, but that's easier said than done. EDM is going against a team with no real weaknesses. And Bobrovsky is playing significantly better than Skinner. If goalies were swapped, EDM would have won at least one of these games and still be in the series. |

Doesn’t matter. It’s the playoffs and they got through. Just like the Pens when they won. They got massively outplayed most nights but a hot Matt Murray stood on his head at the right time. Same with St Louis. A hot Binnington won them a cup. It happens. |

You had a point and I'm trying to understand it.
But you did not answer my question - and of course it matters.

Yep. If he says Dallas, Oilers beat them. If he says Vegas or Colorado, Oilers beat the team that beat them. Oilers had the best record in the NHL since Knoblauch took over.
He's just hating on the Oil and is pissed they made the Finals.

Edmonton beat the best of the west and Florida beat the best of the east, not flawed, would prefer 1v 8 back but buutman only cares about the $$$$$ and not the product. |

Each team plays only 16 games against the other conference. It makes no sense to play 66 out of 82 games in a conference and then take the top 16 teams in the league regardless of conference. There would basically be a season long in-conference tournament (with occasional forays into the other conference) whose results would be ignored. None of the other major sports leagues work this way. |

Actually, each team plays 32 games against the opposite conference. Which, IMO, is way too much. |

Maybe proof that it's a 7 game series for a reason. |
