I feel like I've been very honest with my feeling towards Chris Drury, but it's my fault he shows any lack of care or willingness to learn from his mistakes as player, captain and now GM. Sorry, my fault. I gotta stop making him do all of this.

I would say potentially buying out goody would be learning from a mistake

I remember back in January people throwing out the idea of adding a first rounder to get rid of Goodrow lol

If the buyout happens it’s pretty painless.

I am going to try and get a blog up later. Will say that despite the poor advanced metrics, losing Goodrow does have a negative impact. He was solid on the PK, stepped up in the playoffs and provided leadership in the room. If he could have been a third liner, then the contract would have been more palatable. As a fourth liner, not as much. Plus if want to argue Goodrow did more than Kakko, I am onboard with that. So if think Kakko maybe should have been moved first, that's fair, though I think NY still wants to see if Kakko can take a major step forward before moving on.

So, a guy that won a NCAA championship, Hobey Baker Award, Calder Trophy and Stanley Cup doesn't learn from his mistakes? Yes, you must be right. Champions always find themselves breezing through life with nary a difficulty or lesson to learn.
Your absolutism makes you sound like a clown. Congrats on your stupid "victories" of personal insight and enjoy that feeling of superiority, I'm sure it will keep you warmer than any sense of comradery.

On Miller/Necas:

No thanks.

I like Miller, I think he has the ability to be a high quality defenseman, but if the Hurricanes are sacrificing Necas they're going to need more help on offense. Depth is taking a big hit this summer. They need to replace it with quality up front.

Nothing against Miller, just not really what they should be looking for.

I was perfectly fine keeping goody. Understand it only bc of the cap hit

"Plus, he said something about how blowing a four-goal lead against the Capitals in a Dec. 23, 2008 OT loss wouldn’t ruin his — or his teammates’ — Christmas, a comment that had a shelf life as long as his stay in New York."

I am proud of you for the way you’ve handled this the last few weeks. Big improvement from earlier in the year. I thought he sucked then and even more so now. Just doesn’t need to devolve into a 20 page free for all. Now everyone can focus on hating him instead of all you guys

And this is what was said in the column:
“Ironically, the problem with Drury was that every defeat did stay with him. The problem with Drury was that he did not know how to turn it off between games. There was no one more intense, no one with a greater work ethic, no one in that tony white-collar tax bracket who was more of a blue-collar guy.”

Lindgren has arbitration rights...that could lead to another buyout (Trouba) if it goes that far.

What if we just kept him, but asked him to use part of his too large salary to pay for team dinners and such??? Increases his value!!

Lindgren cannot be paid enough to force a buyout of someone else. Not because I want to keep Trouba but because Lindgren can’t get overpaid when he’s liable to break down at any moment
