Hate to say it, if we're still doing internal cap stuff, we're fooooooked.
- QuinnFan

I think he's already lowering expectations by talking about saving money for the next wave of internal extensions a year from now.

I urge people to read Lance Lysowski's interview with Adams. Whatever fire Adams had at the end of the year presser revolved around hiring Lindy and I don't think he intends to do anything meaningful to this roster. Maybe one player where you go "oooh interesting" like when Botterill traded for Conor Sheary. That's the best case

I mean I can easily see both Peterka and Quinn (barring health) surpassing Tage as the two highest paid forward contracts on the team.

Being mindful of that doesn’t mean that you aren’t preparing to spend money on shorter term deals.

The past is the past.

I have never seen/heard this smoke around the Sabres since Adams has been the GM here.

We went from “he won’t fire Donnie cause Pegs is cheap” to firing Donnie and talking about a Jeff Skinner buyout in weeks.

we try

they get shot down on this board because they make too much or cost too many assets to get them

kulich and pick 11 for Cirelli,85 percent of you say it costs too much but at the end of the day kulich and pick 11 could be 2 more Marek Zagrapans

- homiedclown

They got shutdown cause most of it is garbage ideas.

TK is a garbage idea if hes going to cost you 10million to keep.

Goodrow is a terrible idea cause he costs almost 4 million over the next 3 years to be a faceoff/pk specialist... and not a great one.

I liked Cirelli as an idea weeks ago. Is paying your 3C over 6millioon a good idea? I dont know. But I think its a justifiable question.

can we do none of it?
- TheSabresTaco

sure

bring back the band for another year

2 years from now when we miss the playoffs for 15 straight years, ruff can be the goat

our top 6 fails compared to the panthers, bolts, bruins, rangers, canes, leafs, islanders, etc

same for our bottom 6

same for our special teams

it's why we watch them in may year after year and our security guards only work when the bandits play after mid april

yeah

no teams make trades in the summer

it's only day 1 of free agency

players do not want to come here

refs screw us

bad puck luck

adams was not here for all 13 years

no other coach would come here

signing hall makes us cup contenders

this guy did not want be traded so we respected this

this guys does not want to play in a preseason game so we respect that

at the end of the day I am excited to talk and listen

All need contracts (I think without looking)

I think still to some effect trading greenway and Clifton is a no brainer

- Sabretooth9

issues for 2025-26 salary cap, not 24-25 cap

adams can swing for the fences to round out his roster with payroll for 24-25 season

just like last summer when he pissed it away on 8 crappy players

Absolutely false. They aren’t a cap team.

Managing cap for future contracts maybe like JJ and Quinn extensions. But pegula is willing to spend.

and his gm spent it on

Ahh I was off by a year. That is a fair point. I thought they had to be resigned this summer.

Yeah, so I don’t get the pegula is cheap.

Also the last Eichel season with Taylor hall and company. We basically spend to the cap.

6k on a short term deal and he walks and becomes a vezina finalist for another team

trust me, his big moves will be locking up peterka, byram, and quinn and call it a summer

then quinn will play 12 games this season

and 2 years from now, the nhl teams will figure out how to beat a short levi and we lose the draft lottery to cbus

buffalo luck

bad asset management is a better description for him regarding the sabres

came in as the white knight saying this would become hockey heaven and money was never going to be an issue with the sabres

I agree with you on asset management.

I think finding a GM is a lot of luck in sports in general.

Like who would’ve guessed the Bill Zito guy from an assistant GM from the Blue Jackets would become what he was with the Florida panthers.

Pegula interviewed him

Botts was the next best thing with the pens

Tim Murray had hockey in his blood (with a lot of beer) and was considered an up and comer.

Like pegula with beane and McDermott. Hell would have to freeze over before he fires either of those guys.

One more thing about NHL gms. It’s like the old guys convention.

Very few teams like Vegas and Tampa work the salary cap like they do in order to get the best team possible. (Panther I think didn’t as well)

Is it a scummy move? Sure. But teams don’t get fined for it and teams still trade with them.

Then the old “ hold the salary” teams - good gms should use that as an advantage.

Then Adams and tons of older gms. “Well our team needs a veteran leader to learn from”

That is such an out of date and out of touch move. It’s pathetic. Erik Johnson sucked. Okposos sucked

One day, a younger more aggressive gm will take advantage of all these old guys and win.

Tim Murray I think was ontop something and then sort of collapsed because Lehner was awful.
