Statement of fact. You want to compare them, I gave you a comparison.
By the way, you are not cute and you sound like a DB with your constant insults. I do not know if you are but you certainly portray a pretty awful human being on this board.
100%. You can't expect kids to pull along our bottom6/bottom pairing. Get better coaching (done) and a better supporting cast, we'll see a lot better results. Need to insulate the talent. - QuinnFan
Insulating the talent isn't only about the bottom 2 lines.
It's also about being open to bringing in top 6 help and pushing some of the talent already on the team down a line, or even two.

The 11th overall and Savoie isn't near enough for a player like Eriksson Ek, IMO. - kingcong39
He did just have a very good year and his contract is awesome for what he brings, so maybe not. But a former top10 pick and 11OA isn't a poopty offer either. We may have to add something smaller, but I'd start backing away if they're looking for multiple firsts on top of Savoie. He shouldn't get the return Eichel did as an example.

I dk, our top2 lines didn't do poorly. The issue I saw is that they were strapped with guys like Greenway who were getting extra minutes due to nepotism. But they also weren't afforded much depth scoring. Kids are going to be inconsistent, so that's what I was more getting at...need depth scoring to take some pressure off on those nights when it isn't going their way.

Look at it from the other team's perspective.
What would be a reason they'd want to trade Eriksson Ek?
They'd want to get a younger Center with upside who is already locked in a long term deal, ideally.
They'd want Cozens plus, because he's not proven yet and a bigger cap hit.
Remember, they're a team consistently trying to make the playoffs.
@FriedgeHNIC
on 32TP says he’s heard the word is Jaccob Slavin’s extension with #CauseChaos will come in at around 8 x $6.5M (he’ll be 31 when it begins in 2025/26).

They're not a tanking team. - kingcong39
I guess the last part is what I'd argue with...they may need a quick reset here. Getting Savoie and 11OA would give them two quality player chips. They may want Cozens, but you don't trade a younger center who has already surpassed Ek's best year before he turned 23.
IF they want to retool and get some prospects, we've got those. If they don't, you're right, and we should stop talking with Minnesota. We should be targetting teams that want to refresh, get younger or are in cap trouble.

His cap hit is nearly $2M less than Cozens.
That's significant. - kingcong39
He's also 4 1/2 years older, which is as or more significant IMO. There's a good likelihood that Cozens beats his production moving forward, so that type of move does nothing for us.

E-EK would be great. However he plays a with Kaprisov and Boldy... two premium players. He would fit in great with the Sabres top 6 no doubt.
I just wouldn't rape the existing roster to acquire him by overpaying as was suggested with Cozens++. Use Prospects and Picks.. if not, move along

Maybe Guerin, (I think he's still there), wants to just playoff push no matter what. If so, yeah, likely not the best team to deal with given our current sitchy.

Their GM and management does not run the team with a quick reset mentality.
It's why a trade of Eriksson Ek to Buffalo doesn't make sense.
