I will admit I was underwhelmed by his sophomore season, but I do think the 3rd string QB role is a bit over the top. Big defenseman usually take longer. Whether he's a top4 or top pairing is more the question now though, he's a legit NHL d-man.

In 8 seasons, he's had 2 60pt seasons. He was a 40pt guy last year. And he's turning 26 in 4 days fwiw. There's a big age gap there, he's making more than power by a smidge, and barely outpointed him last year despite being a forward and being on a better team.

I don't think he's dog crap, I think he's a middle of the road 2C with a 1C salary.

I'm still hopeful despite the slight step back. As I said, bigger D usually take longer and I think what you've diagnosed is the exact problem. If strength is a big concern, that's about the easiest thing to fix.
