Trust Lindy with that decision?
- Lunaion

Yeah, and I doubt skinner isn’t on the roster come October.

I get the smoke and fire talk

I trust Lindy 100% with player personnel decisions, probably more than I should.

He’s a fridge hall of fame coach.

I’m just wondering his opinion on skinner and girgs

every scenario is a possibility.

im personally just not going to assume they suck before July 2nd.

Almost everything went wrong last season. Definitely shouldn't assume that will happen again. Have to think they'll respond well to a new coach. Hearing all the postseason stuff really makes you wonder why they didn't pull the trigger when it could have saved last season.

like it or not skinner is generally a dependable 50-70 point player. You don't just buy him out and stick Matt Savoie in there and hope for the best during a "we need to win" season. I know he won't do it. With a buyout will almost certainly come another shoe, who can score and is a better player.
- TheSabresTaco

I know, I actually think it's a stupid idea, especially with the way his contract changes next Year. I would wait and see what kind of year he has and retain Next year on him.

He can't buy him out and sit on the savings, it would really show how inept he is.
- Buff36

He's got to be careful, though, and like it or not, that's a fact.

He most likely has to replace Jeff w a guy on a one or two year deal, because when year 3 of the buyout kicks in, it's over $6 million.

But I agree. He has to replace him.

What’s Lindy thinking though?

I’m with you, unless they use the money to purchase some top quality players , forget it.

Knowing they are willing to buy him out, this isn't all about finding an acceptable trade anymore. I think he's gone.

I don't want him to buy him out unless he has a solid option available. With the way his contract changes after this year. I would see what kind of year he has.

I get the sentiment. Changing your team around the way that this team required is virtually impossible in-season. You got what you got. Yeah you can probably make a statement trade, but you need another team to do it with. You really just don't see it.

Being overconfident in the 'bringing the band back' concept is partially what (frank)ed us. But you also need to remember that virtually exact same roster got within a point and was high flying and tons of fun.

Massive roster regression as a whole, bad coaching, non existent power play, and a GM who didn't have the stones or ability to do enough to make this team better as a whole and accepted what was the year prior, ultimate mediocrity.

The GM fumbled, the coach was terrible, the players weren't that good.

Does hiring Craig Berube after Christmas turn that team around? I dunno, maybe.

Lindy is probably gonna make this call, like you said what's Lindy thinking. And Skinner really doesn't fit Lindy's list IMO

That’s interesting, the buyout seems really painful.

Do they instantly use the $ to sign someone else?

I just see more of the same, your post gives me some hope they really want to change their approach.

I think if he's bought out, the temperature around skinner is fully established and they probably think, we do this now we have a shot to greatly improve with the extra 7+ million in spending cash.

Otherwise, what are we even doing.

That's a (frank) of a gap on the left side that needs to be addressed with probably 10-15 million.

Agreed, skinner doesn’t seem like a “Lindy guy”

It’s that 30 goal 65 points they may miss
