byram fills an important gap that, I believe, kevyn thinks is harder to fill than casey's gap. this is all because they have faith in thompson and cozens.
getting a jenner, a laughton esq center will reform the team they way they want to trend and be cheaper on the cap. the former is more important than the latter. |

The entire plan is trade out casey, fill a defensive gap, replace casey with a boone jenner type. He's got two weeks. - TheSabresTaco
Is that gap filled with moving, and not replacing Joker?

No idea what they do with Joker. But he's a 'guy' and does nothing to move needles in any situation.

It's not a remote surprise that Taco and Boss like a Sabres move.
Happens all the time.
Then it all goes to poop. - kingcong39
It's only a good move if he plays well, they are able to extend him, and it's followed a by couple more good moves.
Right now, the hole Mitts left is bigger than the hole Byram filled. |

there's an argument here. I think it was a two bird one stone concept. Keeping Casey blocks how they are reforming the team.

This was the one that came to mind when I think of him hitting. Bad hit, but at this point I'll take a poop stirrer, which it seems he might be.

Out of curiosity, what do you value more? Is having 3 D or 3 C's better? Say they're all about equivalent impact for sake of argument. - QuinnFan
They had those 3 C's for a few years, the problem was they all play very similar styles, and it didn't work.
Dahlin is elite when he is on, but otherwise it's too similar of a situation to say one is better than the other.
I value Centers over dmen. |

You disappeared when they played badly.
Afraid to read the truth about the team's shortcomings and mismanagement?
How can you like the trade already?
Byram looked great for 3 or 4 games, then looked as lost as he did the past 2 seasons in Colorado.
Blaming all that on coaching, again?
Lindy better be a miracle worker.
The Sabres are the only team I follow and root for, but I don't do so blindly. - kingcong39
People “disappear “ for many different reasons, non Sabres reasons as well
You’re just a miserable turd/ troll that whines and cries about everything (all in good fun)
Mr “I don’t do so blindly” lol

I like the move but I also understand why it was done. It was explained thoroughly by the team why it was done. Me liking it has no importance what so ever. I'm just telling you why it happened. - TheSabresTaco
Everyone, EVERYONE knew Mitts for a D was coming... Too much smoke for no fire.
I'll go on record and say I liked it then, and knew it was about future play from a promising player who showed he has it in him, but is young and inconsistent. They bought him for the future
Let's bookmark this blog for a look back in 2 - 3 years
The bad deal would be giving up Mitts for an old sage vet who is dead at 32. |

If Mitts signs for 5mill, Byram better play Well. They didn't have to give up a 60pt option to fill there needs. They opened up another one. |

A trade of Joker for Tanner Jeannot out of Tampa makes a ton of sense to me. |

Byram's also 3 years younger and plays a position that tends to take more time to develop.
I know a lot people here are sick of the young excuse but it is what it is. |

He's only spot on if it ends up being cheaper on the cap, as that statement requires a crystal ball to know at this point. |
