Guy misses an average of 15% or 12 games a season (covid seasons removed), and was grossly overpaid over his career, virtually stealing $6m from Pegula over the last 4 years when he should have been paid at the Vet Min. - IonSabres
Been here 2 years to Long, and that might be generous |

2014 pick 11 Kevin Fiala, started in D3, 570 gms
2015 pick 11 Lawson Crouse, started in D1, 500+ gms
2016 pick 11 Logan Brown, really started D3, right at 99 gms
2017 pick 11 Gabriel Vilardi, started D3, 199 gms played
2018 pick 11 Oliver Wahlstrom, D1 = 10gm/D2 = 44, 193gms
2019 pick 11 Victor Soderstrom, has played gms in 4 seasons, 53 gms. 2020 pick 11 Yaroslav Askarov, early yet for a Goalie, D4 at 3 gms
2024 pick 11 some random undersized winger - homiedclown
Updated your list with Dyear and gms played.
Out of 8 years, 3 have yet to hit 99 games SO FAR...62.5%. Checks out.
Although, as shown above still early for Askarov...even Soderstrom. Yet even those guys are are now entering their D5 seasons.

A bunch of middle six forwards, eh...? 🤔🤔🤔
https://www.nytimes.com/a...ource=user-shared-article
>>> The Sabres need to win now. With that in mind, the No. 11 pick and prospects are going to be part of trade conversations this offseason. Given what you know about this class and the prospect pool, would you prefer to deal the No. 11 pick or one of Matt Savoie, Noah Ostlund or Jiri Kulich? How would you rank those assets? — Matt Fairburn
>>> Wheeler: Excluding the Sabres’ timeline/context, I think I’d go with the following based purely on value league-wide:
1. No. 11
2. Jiri Kulich
3. Matt Savoie
4. Noah Ostlund
Kulich and Savoie may shift above the No. 11 pick given their proximity to the NHL, though, for Buffalo, in that they fit the timeline you’re talking about better and Sabres fans are tired of waiting.
>>> Pronman:
1. No 11.
2. Noah Ostlund/Jiri Kulich
3. Matt Savoie
I like all of the forwards listed, but I think they’re all likely middle-six types, I don’t see the true high side in their games. With the No. 11 pick you’re probably hoping to get a player you think can be a true top-four defenseman or top-six forward on a good team. I also don’t think Savoie’s trade value is all that high in the NHL based on my survey of teams. - kingcong39
That's always been the big fear, that this is just a big collection of middle 6 forwards. Slow to develop has always been a good sign that they aren't likely to be more than that.

That's been my contention since last season ended, when Benson shot right to the top after they picked him.
Same thing would happen if they keep the pick and take Iginla or Catton (comparing forward prospects only). |

2017 pick 11 Gabriel Vilardi, L2
2018 pick 11 Oliver Wahlstrom, out

2020 pick 11 Yaroslav Askarov, not graduated.

That write up on The Athletic has some opinions that just are not supported by the facts that we see above.
"Buffalo, at 11 should expect a Top 6 F or Top 4 D". ... ya? Why?
Data above shows 25% of doing so.
I'd be estatic with a L2 OR 2ndP at 11...more like Bottom 6, 4 - 6 Dman |

Or, DumbAss as the "Science" has now proven.
I wore my mask to make the misguided believers comfortable since at that time I was in a Residential Sales role...and had several good chuckles at donkeys being lead by the nose upon seeing them wearing surgical masks in a car by themselves. These have proven to be righteous Trump-haters. The Rachel Maddow followers. |

"Zemgus Girgensons’ time in Buffalo has almost certainly come to an end, as the pending free agent is expected to test the market later this summer. If this is indeed it for him with the Sabres, he’s going out with a fizzle, not with a bang, as this season was one of the least productive of his NHL career." - homiedclown

I'm fine with keeping Krebs. Can't imagine he has much trade value, anyway.
There are enough bottom 3 guys out there that hit and forecheck like demons. Go get two animals to play on your fourth line w Krebs.
I've heard they're keeping Greenway. Not a fan. If he's on your third line, they better get a helluva player to center him and Benson.

Greenway is a decent PK Guy, go get a tough gritty W in the mold of Foligno and maybe Greenway becomes more aggressive knowing someone has his back. Go get Trenin, Joshua or Jeannot and maybe the whole Team plays Differently. |

We have established 11-OA probably gets the Sabres a Middel 6 F or 4/5 Dman.
If the Sabres keep 11 and Eiserman is available, would you consider making him a boom or bust selection?
With his goal scoring prowess, the gamble is if he hits you could have a L1 Player and significantly beat the averages. Are the Sabres in a position to make that gamble, or should they take a more conservative approach and hope for a Middle 6 F, 4/5 Dman? |
