Interesting to note, that in the last 20 years, we've seen SEVERAL American kids either force a trade or play 4 years of college to get to free agency

The worst a Russian has done is wait a bit longer to come over (and then sign long-term) - Kaprizov/ Kuznetsov

But on draft day, it's the Russian fear, not the American fear. 🤷‍♂️

Strange to tweet that without noting that drafted Russian's don't have a way to hit UFA.

decent point. sure they could just say (frank) you, not signing. Radulov was the last mess I remember. definitely easier for ncaa to threaten.

He references the decisions/actions taken by the individual, what is concerning is the uncertainty of the country that is not considered in his comment.
A little disingenuous for me.

CHL has the biggest advantage, but no where to play after juniors. System might break when they can play NCAA.

I wonder how much a player can legally make in the ncaa vs back door deals in the CHL.

It looks like college hockey is adding NIL $ to it.

It's a good question, no clue what NIL's will make in hockey.

I think both teams say no, and the Sabres for the reason you mention. I don't think we could have three D that are that expensive.

I think Calgary would insist on Power, or Byram++

reilly smith switched agents to CAA. just like joker (wasserman)

typically means a trade is coming.

No one changes their agent to accept their QO, that's for sure.

Maybe Calgary holds back some $, although 6.25 million is pretty steep.

What’s joker looking at salary wise?

Believe couturier did too.

Edit, he did to CAA. Pat Brisson, the trade whisperer. That was back in late April.

Wish he wasn't so expensive. Would be a nice piece in the middle 6.

I can’t see the Sabres paying joker 4m+

Could get a decent player if we add 11OA

Lots of smoke with the flyers

My top targets in FA/Trade for 2C/3C/4C

Duchene 2C - The strategy to acquire him either a) maximize Skinner's value vs moving him one way or another, or b) to build an impactful scoring L2 while allowing Cozens to flourish in L3 mismatches. If choosing "b", then an additional Top 6 acquisition, preferably at 1RW for me is preferred 2nd move...like Kane.

Nic Roy 3C - Trade. Decent production, weak on FO's, good contract.
JG Pageau 3C - Trade. Good player, is he on the decline, or just had a substandard season. Great on the dot, brings physicality. A little expensive for production of 35 - 40 pts avg.
Shane Pinto 3C - Trade. Good production, adds value. Good on dot. Trade could be relatively expensive given value he would bring.

Amadio 4C - solid player who gives L4 better capability than just an energy line.
Faksa 4C - solid L4 C, good on the dot, good value. Needs extension
Trenin 4C - largely brings toughness, production is below replacement level. Decent PK.

That's where things get weird, isn't it? If you don't want to pay him 4m, how many teams are lining up to trade for him to pay him that?

Cap room around the league still seems very tight and Philly somehow has almost no space.

He's in the discussion. Might be a bit early at 11, but his stock is rising as next Dman after the other 6

Suspected trade value of Joker is mid/late round pick.
He isn't worth much, hence why his projection of 3 x $4.0 is confusing to me. Seems high.

I agree with that assessment.

Joker in January and February was playing great. March his play fell off a cliff

How much of that was due to he and Byram being like oil and water when paired together?

Part of the reason he might not be worth much is because he's arb eligible, in line for that kind of money, and close to UFA. Same kind of logic that killed Sam's value and guy's like Buchnevich went for a 2nd.

What do you think he's worth? Gotta be more than Clifton's 3.3m, right?

I suspect it'll be lower than 4 if he gets some decent term.

4 years, 12 million seems pretty fair.
