A trade of Joker for Tanner Jeannot out of Tampa makes a ton of sense to me. - IonSabres
That's an overpay, and I am no fan of Jokiharju.
Bet you could get Jeannot for a late round pick, as Tampa would be happy to be out of his cap hit. |
|
|
|
Be cheaper on the cap?
How do you know that? - kingcong39
Have to imagine this ends up right where they started. Extending Byram will cost more than they'd like. I bet they'll need to pay him more than Mitt's extends for in Denver.

I'd bet TB wouldn't want Joker's cap hit either.

People “disappear “ for many different reasons, non Sabres reasons as well
You’re just a miserable turd/ troll that whines and cries about everything (all in good fun)
Mr “I don’t do so blindly” lol - Boss34
You are never around when they play badly or things go to hell with the team.
I bet you don't like people asking constant questions of you at work, do you?
That's what management wants: No questions, just do what we say. |

Byram's also 3 years younger and plays a position that tends to take more time to develop.
I know a lot people here are sick of the young excuse but it is what it is. - DirtyDan
It is, and I really do hope Byram excels here. Definitely has the talent. But could the Sabres have gotten Mitts signed for the reported 5yr 25mill he could sign in Colorado. If they had atleast made conversation with him during the year, not a month before the TDL, even Mitts himself said he was confused. They have the assets to have gotten a good Dman without opening another hole. Especially if that 3C comes in costing more than 5mill |

If Mitts signs for 5mill, Byram better play Well. They didn't have to give up a 60pt option to fill there needs. They opened up another one. - Buff36
Mitts played well, here, there and in the PO's. Good for him finally figuring it out.
I don't know why we are singling out Byram... Power, Byram, Sammy, Johnson, Cliffy all need to pick up their games, and for that matter Dahlin too.
Good news, they're all very young (except Cliffy)
Let's hope Wilford's "issue" was Granato's system and not his own incompetence |

I think moving Casey was simple a case of Adams likes Tage and Cozens more at center and had no desire to move one of them to the wing and no desire to move casey up to the top 6 as a winger
we have yet to see a top 4 of dahlin, byram, power and samuelsson, although I would like samuelsson playing bottom pair and an upgrade brought in |

It's only a good move if he plays well, they are able to extend him, and it's followed a by couple more good moves.
Right now, the hole Mitts left is bigger than the hole Byram filled. - Lunaion
That hole should have been filled by Krebs, except he failed in the opportunity presented to him.
THAT is a bigger issue than worrying about how much Mitts signs for with the Avs... Really, who gives a crap he's gone. |

Yep, especially if Byram plays like he did the last 18 games and we are paying 6.5mill for that 3C |

Doesn't seem like they felt Krebs was the 3C answer, even with no other option on the team.

“Rumblings seem to support that the Leafs are willing to use multiple ELC and league minimum deals to fill out their forward group so they can finally fix the defensive issues.
At least one conversation has happened with an Atlantic rival about Calle Jarnkrok.”

I’m thinking this is us, and I think Jarnkrok would be a good 4RW |

He's only spot on if it ends up being cheaper on the cap, as that statement requires a crystal ball to know at this point. - kingcong39
Nope.
" byram fills an important gap that, I believe, kevyn thinks is harder to fill than casey's gap. this is all because they have faith in thompson and cozens."
And I'll add " that he thought Krebs could step up into the 3C spot "
I'll be shocked f Mitts signs for $5M for a club who believes he is their 2C and played very well in the PO' |
|
|
|
was that on adams or meathead? - homiedclown
Neither. They had given up on the season by that point. They didn't care about having a 3C. |

So get Jeannot for nothing more then a late round pick, and use Jokiharju as a piece in a trade for a higher quality player. |
