I can't fathom he does a 180 and pulls this poop. Holy (frank)balls.
- TheSabresTaco

Firing Donnie, buying out Skinner, and trading prospects would be the 180 here. None of that was part of the plan, until this season went way off course.

Well I mean we're a third there.

I mean we had feelings that Don wasn't the long term guy but there were exactly zero people calling for his firing last season. It's a low bar but at least they made that first step of not accepting garbage despite a new extension. Yes, whoopdie doo.

It's time for him to push all the emotional bullpoop out of the way and do what's necessary to win.

And thank Christ we only have to wait 8 more days to stop talking about what ifs. He guffs this, he's fired.

Yup, going to be a fascinating 2 weeks. Is this full blown panic, or are they willing to pin most of this on Donnie and onto Lindy?

If this team fails, they both failed. Kevyn made sure about that when he spoke.

The team on paper was worse to start the year with quinn out and the gm let it ride anyways. It definitely seems like the course was to be worse all along.

I don't know about that. If you make 5 1sts in two years, I'd say your plan is based on them as part of it. They didn't have to trade for all those picks, or make them. Once you make the picks, it isn't that easy to get away from them.

I've always been concerned about building around LD and lacking a high end F. That has only increased. I'm not sure there's a move available to them that changes that this offseason.

- Lunaion

If your plan is based on that, and you're multiple years in and haven't made the playoffs, the plan is (frank)ed up.

It’s easy to spin , it’s all Donnie’s fault

Idk, I like the Byram trade.

Of course he's in love with his prospects. Most teams are. You spend so much money and time in drafting, investing in, developing, etc them.

You see a bunch of middle sixers, but why is their prospect pool ranked at or near the top by numerous publications?

He can hang onto these prospects and picks, but if they miss the playoffs again, those picks and prospects become the next GMs "problem". I'm hoping he finds some balls of steel here and gets this fan base excited again.

The rankings are at least partially based on volume of prospects.

Lot of blame to go around, plenty of blame should be put on players to. Especially a Captain planning his way out in November.

Right. When you read the athletic ranking it tells you it's based on volume and diversity.

No, not at all. But that depth should also help you be able to make trades.

Just saying it'll generally all be over in 8 days.

Except for the odd league trade here and there.

The skinner trade was done in August.

"It's only July 2nd" gets the damn chair.

I think they were banking on internal development and Donnie being the guy to take the next step. Regression wasn't on their minds.

I'm not saying it shouldn't. He said he was finally willing to do that. Let's see if he does.

Like I said, he has the ammo to make almost any trade he wants. He still needs a partner(s). I agree with all of you. The time has passed to make this team better so it can take the next step. But he can't be reckless. This isn't a video game.

F@cking excuses on here get ridiculous, yes let's keep Waiting for our Prospects to hopefully hit while Dahlin, Cozens and Tuch say they have had enough.

Don't want him to be reckless, want the lip service to stop and for him to close a Deal.

They gave the patient route a chance, and for a variety of reasons, it didn't work as they hoped. I think the mindset has changed. I know that it has for me.

Some of it will depend on what HE thinks this team needs. It may differ from what you and I think it needs.

I think it needs a top 6 W, a true 3C, and at least 3 players of their bottom 6 (depending on how Ruff slots everyone). Adams may feel differently. He likes Greenway. Many of you like Greenway. I can't stand him.

Regression not being on their minds is lunacy considering the career highs that happened 2 seasons ago.

There were cracks showing towards the end of that season too, and nothing worthwhile was done.

I know they got him to be a middle 6 guy, but given our predicted cap space after jeffy is bought out, couldn't he be a really nice player on the 4th line and PK?
