Thanks Rico, we were blessed to be financially and structurally sound to take on these kids. Yea my girl is a good woman
I guess I'm going to eat my words about Demidov being drafted outside the top 10. I don't know if it's all the love for him out there or when i watch his high lights he reminds me a lot of Kane the way he commands the puck on his stick. After his weight in, i see the Blackhawks drafting him 2nd OA. - BetweenTheDots
Dots, you're old enough to know sports is nonsense. What you and your family did is not, is the real world and has consequences all the way down to your natural kids and adopted kids' great grandchildren and beyond. ... A truly amazing and wonderful thing your family did.
Eat your words on Demidov going outside the top 10? Even if he doesn't you're not wrong for making the case he will or should. As many have pointed out no Russian in the modern era has not come over but with the funk in Russia right now fair to worry to some degree about any Russian especially with the #2 pick.
I stand by Demidov going top 10 but Michkov, ranked higher by the majority, went 7th last yr. Crazier things have happened.

Do s that mean Ryan Greene doesn’t want to sign with the Hawks? He decided to go back for his third year - LAHawk
It might could be...I guess Scott Powers or Little Benny Pope need to ask Kyle the right questions... |

To be fair there were a lot better plays in the draft. Celebrini would be 4th?

Waddell open to moving 4th pick
https://www.sportsnet.ca/...erall-pick-in-right-deal/ - ReggieFleming
I don't
a) think he is giving Columbus' pick away,
b) he doesn't want Seth Jones.
c) he wants more than Zegras.
d) taking the big finn is not enough...
e) think they are happy with their current roster and will want a few real players, so not worth more than a passing interest. |

It is difficult to think Ryan Greene is disingenuous in wanting to return to school. It seems easier to add Greene, and maybe Moore next year as the team starts BEING draft picks.
Until he fully physically equip to play 200 foot NHL centre, the growth comes easier by way of college.
I would make much of it….until it is. |

Yes, you guys were talking about the pick being between Levshunov or Demidov. My point is it's reasonable to wonder if it's a Buium, Lindstrom or even Siliyev or D!ckinson. I'm not at all convinced the pick is between Lev or Demidov.
But, the Hawks are probably having to make a decision, comparing, on a forward or D. If they see Lev as a Doughty, Demidov as a Datsyuk, Buium as a Josi, D!ckinson as a Shea Weber or Lindstrom as a Peter Forsberg they are comparing and deciding between a forward and D.
Do I not understand you, Chunk? - Mr Ricochet
Pretty much.
I agree. It’s probably an open question on about 3-4 guys. They are picking 2OA. I’m going to go out on a limb and say the player will be really good whether they are getting the second coming of any of the guys you mention.
At the end of the day, if the kid doesn’t pan out, I don’t think it was for lack of preparation or research. It will likely be a combination of factors (injury, not right fit, personal reasons, etc). It’s just really hard to project how a 18 year old kid will project to a pro player. This is why I’m more interested in the sum of the parts than any individual part right now. The Hawks landed the big fish last year.

Thanks to all here who post stuff on the prospects. I watch very little of the prospects, so I don't comment of the relative worth of them as potential pros. Because of the back-and-forth here, I at least know the names. |

If they're not going to let him leave the country why is he in the States now? He could easily just not go back. |

Firstly, do we know if his injury is a knee, ankle or both? I've read it was his knee when he was in Russia now that he's in the USA I'm hearing ankle.
I'm as far from being a Fox Ruse Whorehouse viewer/conspirast as humanly possible but you say Demidov is in the US now, but his family isn't. It may or may not apply but Michkov's pops ended up face down in a pond.
Again, it may not apply but like any fascist, nazi, authoritarian run society knows it's simply the idea that such things could possibly happen is powerful. ....... Probably National Review kinda stuff but that bucket of filth is mainstream in the US for 150 million people. |

It was said it was an ankle issue. His family, including his two brothers committed to SKA St. Petersburg were still in Russia.

Alright, can we all agree to leave this poop out of our posts? To pretend that one side tells the truth and the other lies (i.e. good vs bad) is the most shortsighted and stupid argument. Both sides lie, both have some good ideas as well as poopty ones. To literally paint half the country as rubes who just don’t know better is pretty insulting (either way), and does not help one bit - nor does it make an argument stronger. It just makes you (collective you) sound lazy. If you put the average right wing and left wing person in a room and asked their stance on the main issues in the country, they would likely agree on 80-90% of them. Name calling gets us nowhere… especially on a HOCKEY site. 🤦🏻 |

Maybe, i don't know. Then again we aren't hearing the Blackhawks shopping him around either. I know many fear the Russian factor but it seems to me kids that go to college sign less with the teams that drafted them than the Russians do. - BetweenTheDots
Quit killing the narrative, you might telepathically convince KD to draft a Russian

Yeah, so these woke hawk fans will say we don't like you picking him becasue he was past unwoke. (Still do not know what using woke invokes...)
When I was a sophmore in Weber HS we went oin a retreat. It was 1965-66, and I had a surfers cross (Beach Boys etc.). I was called into the sophmore counselor because he somehow was mis-informed I was an American Nazi (the george lincoln Rockwell guy)
I was floored.
The thing is they DID have HQ about a mile form where I lived.
I had never stepped in the place.
Yet there I am and the guidance counselor just wanted to make sure since my father was shot and killed less than six months before in a robbery, that I hadn't fallen down some path.
But someone from that retreat was bothered so uch by that Iron Cross (WWI) that they went to him.
We used to cvall it where I lived back ballin' someone.
Connelly is playing organized sports and doesn't have tine to lead a subversive movement.
We gotta enough louder shouters on that front. - wiz1901

You dont make decisions based on the woke crowd. You wont ever appease them because they are haters.
The Hawks have the organization and the structure after the Beach disaster to draft this kid if hes available
Lets not forget what the woke crowd wanted to do to a falsely accused Patrick Kane - molly2522
Unfortunately, i think there are one or two above KD...........
But we'll see how it goes, only 4 more days

This guy gets it. Nice editorial and PSA Chunk. Now back to hockey...
Wheeler's mock this am in The Athletic has:
The Hawks taking Levshunov and Luchanko with their 1st round picks.
Demidov going 4 to the Jackets.
Nygard going at 15 to the Wings.
Have going at 19 to the Knights.
We'll see but I agree with some here that Demidov measuring a tick over 6' and weighing over 190 might have moved the needle for him ending up a Hawk. We'll know in a handful of days.

Fits with the news I heard; the Hawks have set up an Exfiltration Department made up of former Navy Seals to get prospects and families out of dangerous countries. |

Serious knee injury in October and re-injured same knee in late April. The ankle injury is a new revelation and was never reported until his interview last week. His skating style coincidentally is one of the detractors according to scouts and not being able to skate at the showcase certainly seemed odd. |

I knew something was fishy when Rutger McGroarty decided to go back to Michigan for a third season.
He's clearly ready to come out.
If he's dealt, some team is getting a real asset on the ice and in the room. Kid's a serious leader.
Per Cam Robinson
He goes on to say
Let’s just say that if the Jets are bringing him up in talks (as reported) then it’s very likely it’s because the player isn’t happy
College game now with the LIV money will give these kids more power to decide who they want to play for.
Oh and Paul if this is true does this mean he has no integrity like Cutter? Since it seems you are the ethics/integrity specialist here. - BetweenTheDots
It doesn’t sound like an integrity thing to me, from what Friedman reported it sounds like he wants out because the team didn’t promise him a spot, apparently the Jets seem to think players have to earn their spot. That won’t go well on most teams. What do you think Dots, if the reporting is accurate is it an integrity issue or is McGroarty is acting a little privileged? |
