Still plenty of time during the summer for it to happen.
Maybe Carolina reconsiders since they struck out on Guentzel.
Zegras may very well stay put after all.
Laine is going to be dealt. Probably to a team that didn't find what it needed from a UFA. - Scabeh
Laine is a big gamble for a contender, high cap hit, high risk, not the greatest track record from a health point of view. All depends how desperate some teams will be.
I am not a Zegras fan for MTL, I like Necas but the asking price is ridiculous from what we hear. |

My love for Zegras is well documented, I wish we'd find a way to bring him in.
Laine is a risk I would take if the cost is minimal. We have the cap space, we have the technology, we have the nightlife, if we don't need to give any prime assets, it's more than worth it.
If the asking price for Necas is anything close to what's being reported, I'd stay the hell away from that player. Never was a big fan of him.

Samuel Blais, on a cheap contract, would be an interesting pickup for the Habs. If anything as an upgrade on Pezzetta. |

I think they will be a bit more patient now with the Demigod pick, I see them targeting a larger young forward that can play top 9, skill but also some sand paper. Some players take you to the playoffs, some take you through the playoffs, they need to start adding that type now.
They have too many LHD's still, they have Armia, Dvo and Savard who will be UFA next summer, they have Anderson and Gallagher signed until 2027, Price is UFA 2026. |

Hughes said there was a move that was basically canceled because they manage to grab Demidov.
I think that move was trading for Zegras, as he has that same "profile".

Well he reportedly wanted to leave because he wasn't used on the first powerplay.
Maybe that changes.

so who around the league is available? I'm looking for a top6 player, could even be a cap dump no problem. must have 1 or 2y remaining on his contract top.
unless he's a young gun like Necas or Zegras, that's a different story. |

except for the ones in Columbus I'm a big fan of BJs, so this doesn't sound weird to me at all. BJs and steaks, what's not to like. - Pat1993
well just to clarify, are you getting the BJ while your grilling the steak or while eating it ? |

Potential guys that fit your description:
Laine
Tarasenko (UFA)
Tavares (lol)
Ehlers
Ehlers will cost too much and Tavares won't waive to come here. So yeah... not alot options out there.
A Marchesseault/Perron for 2-3 years would have been great. Too bad it couldn't work. |

Tarasenko, that's interesting. Ehlers too but not the same price. no to the other 2. |

« Pour moi, l'important, c'était les huit ans. Si j'avais voulu plus d'argent, j'aurais pu attendre. C'est fait maintenant, c'est terminé et je peux me concentrer sur mon jeu et la victoire. C'est la chose la plus importante pour moi. Je suis heureux d'être sous contrat pour neuf autres années à Montréal. Je veux construire quelque chose de spécial avec les autres gars »

He'd likely be extremely cheap after his terrible last season.

Let's all pray Anderson has a huge bounce back season...to either earn the rest of his contract or to raise his value so he can be traded without salary retention. I know Gally will be with the Habs until the end of his contract |

yep, but he'd sign for short term (unlike top UFAs), he knows the team and the city... maybe not a bad option for MTL.

Anaheim also "gambled" with McTavish at 3. Seem to like their OHL guys. It's a big gamble but they have a ton of D prospects. The kid looks like he might be a monster if he turns into Jamie Benn like he looked like in the playoffs. |

So the Habs traded Kovacevic for almost nothing.
Guess that means more lefties are gonna play the right side. Or maybe they're showing even more faith in Barron? |

Matheson
Ghule
Struble
Harris
Xhekaj
Hutson
Savard
Barron
Mailloux
Reinbacher
I think Hutson and Reinbacher will be in Laval to start the season, Mailloux might also join them. They will most likely play Ghule on the right again.
They will go with D's on the team to start. I think they will move one of Harris or Struble before the season starts.
