I'm not really defending him, I just think he paid the price 3rd liners with term usually go for. no more no less. should he have passed on that trade? absolutely! the time was good to rebuild, not give picks away.

I would argue that at his peak, yes, he was a legit top-line player, it's just that his peak didn't last all that long lol. anyway I don't really agree with how you're assessing the price for a third-line player but it's all good.
