So a new rule will now allow CHL players to play NCAA. I haven’t seen specifics but I wonder how that’ll play into this situation.
- Schmojo

Who knows. Maybe the NCAA eligibility changes will allow players to sign NHL contracts while they're still in school. And yeah, CHL kids who previously weren't "amateurs" can now be eligible to play NCAA hockey. It's all gonna have to be hammered out between the the NCAA/NHL and probably between the NHL and NHLPA.

If McGroarty's demand is to be on the roster right away, it won't work here either. The Flyers want to MANAGE their club, for good or bad. And there's bad, evidenced by everyone who has commented here that Torts mutes offense due to his insistence on playing defensively.

Look at what happened to the Oilers this playoff run? Are they in position to win it all because of all offense? Their offense came from changing their system to play more defensively. So there's something to it.

I could go on. We're seeing the Oilers break the Panther's forecheck due to using stretch passes. Isn't THAT what Flyers did this year to take the pressure off their back end? Isn't that what led to the short handed goals? The odd man rushes? This approach was responsible for 2 Flyers wins against the Panthers. I am not supportive of players coming in and making demands on when they should play, what system etc. etc. That is the coach's call. It's working for Knobloch. Otherwise why do we need coaches?

my own opinion is rutger doesn't want to play in winnipeg. think that is the main reason not the roster spot.

I see it more this way. I just don't think he wants to be in WPG.

US kid, played at Michigan, I think he just want to be in a US market.

I got Florida tonight. 4-2. I know EDM has all the momentum but I think FLA gets it done tonight.

Goal Scorers
Tkatchuk, Bennett, Barkov, Montatour

McDavid, Hyman

Florida breaks through on the PP tonight.

You gotta think that Florida is telling themselves that Game 7 at home is what they worked on since day one. One game. Winner take all. Home ice advantage. These guys are professionals and Edmonton has been that good the last 3 games. But, I agree. Florida wins a tight checking game and Bob regains his swagger.

Your worries are needless. The Flyers brought in some consultants to help on the PP.

Maurice has to make some actual counter-adjustments first.

The Oilers quick ups and zone flying has really neutered the Cats' preferred gameplan of dump and forecheck in numbers. Maurice has just doubled and tripled down on that same forecheck scheme the past couple of games. If they don't start playing a bit more conservatively they're gonna lose again.

So I know they aren't directly connected but with Michkov coming over I think it is easier to swallow for people to move Konecny. Michkov will be the top RW for this team for a decade in my eyes. I don't see any need now to commit big money and term to Konecny.

Konecny and Laughton should be moved this week.

With Michkov's arrival there should be a clear vision of building around him as the centerpiece.

Agreed that is what they should do but I fully expect TK to get a new deal w the Flyers. I rather look for a hockey trade but it certainly sounds like the Flyers are going to sign him to a deal.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I love the player but not for the $ and term he is going to get.

I’m all for Demidov and think he’s going to be a good one….but sure fire ? No…he lit up the MHL…which is no where on the level of JR hockey on this side of the pond. I think Chicago takes one of the D….but we’ll see.

That’s fair enough…. Some have raised the concerns about the level of competition.

I tend to agree but I didn't think Michkov would be over for another season or two. With him coming over, his ELC will be done within 3 years and then he is not getting a bridge deal. For that reason, I don't want any big money tied to a guy who won't be the top RW on the roster.

They need to have that money for other things like Michkov and finding him a Center to play with. If I am Briere I am looking to get one in the draft(Lindstrom, Catton) or maybe deal for one(Rossi, Perfetti, Zegras, Pinto) but that needs to be the plan now.

It is kind of weird that everyone has announced that Michkov will be released from his contract today except for the Flyers and SKA.

Wonder if NHL sent out a memo about holding off all news until tomorrow so everything could be on game 7 tonight.

Agree completely. DB would have to get to to the top of the draft for Lidstrom. I just don't know if there is a path to get that high but crazier stuff has happened. If Catton is there (without any trades) he is the pick I believe.

Honestly don't see them trading up for Demidov.

If they do trade it up it won't be for a finesse winger.

It'll be because they're targeting a big D or a big C.

Absolutely agree.

I think TK is gone. Are they gonna pay him all that money and put him on the left side? Or to be 2nd line RW? I just can’t see it with what he’s looking for contract-wise.

If his contract weren’t up I’d give TK a go at Center as crazy as it sounds. If he could hold his own it’d solve a ton of problems with the roster. Definitely not something they can do now tho.

It is an issue. He seemed overwhelmed after initially making SKA last year. He was promptly sent back to the MHL….that’s not a knock, most guys don’t succeed at that age in the KHL….I still think his upside is that of a star player. I still hope the Flyers end up with him. I don’t see it happening but I can hope.

So the Flyers would be using the few quality assets they have to move up to select…checks notes…another winger. Doesn’t make sense.

If they move to 7 they need to select Buium or D!ckinson. Then get Catton or Helenius at 11 or 12. Those picks would actually start to fill organizational needs with talent.

- Schmojo

I’m not opposed to that… but there is a difference between talent and high end talent.
