Wow, the fallout from the Cup Final is real. Sabres making a gigantic push to acquire Draisaitl. This on top of hot pursuit to get disgruntled Kaprizov out of Wild. Newsflash, the Sabres have the ammo to do it. Just don't expect Tage Thompson or Owen Power to be a Sabre for much longer. - Hatboro_Swords

so who *should* be trending up this offseason? and who *should* be trending down?
I suspect that jersey is in the same boat that we are: good young roster that was plagued by management's inability to either add to it or fix holes. and injuries. The Rags have some people to sign and are getting a little long in the tooth, but I suspect they will be similar to what they were last year.
Of the top teams, it seems like most are in a position to take a step back. Its going to be tough for Toronto to fix their holes. Boston and Tampa are going to continue to lose players, I think. Florida absolutely will, but they still run back an impressive top end of the lineup.
The middle of the pack: Detroit and Ottawa - who knows? There is some talent, but still lots of holes. |

I think we are closer to the wings and sens vs the devils
I think the devils are much more talented up front and our holes are closer to what the other 2 clubs have |

With the current roster, at their best, they are a fringe team.

Well, yes, I would agree with that. We know that they will go out and get some bodies, but I should have phrased it better. They have the cap space and the murrency to do pretty much whatever they want. Most other teams don't have that "luxury". Hence the "should" in the question. |

if this is another ho hum summer by adams then phuck this - homiedclown
Sure, but actively making moves and cratering your team and sitting on your hands and cratering your team is still the same result.
Does Adams need to make moves ? Yes. But he needs to make the right moves.

"One thing I noticed while sketching out the Sabres’ offseason is that there’s a lot of business to handle and it’s going to be tough to do it all in one summer. This offseason would have been an easier lift had they done more last summer." |

Colorado was majority trades and UFA.
St Louis most important player was surely drafted by them in ROR, right? |

Yzerman in Detroit.
Chevy in Winnipeg (although they may have got in for a cup of coffee in one of his first 6 years there) |

It's truly amazing that:
A) The Sabres have missed the playoffs 13 straight years, a 1 in 18,808 statistical improbability.
B) During the drought, they traded their captain/alternate (de facto) captain 3 times, with all 3 winning the Cup by their first full season's end.

Imagine not trading for byram and solidifying our defense
Also, good thing upl looks like a viable option
Benson grabbing a top 9 spot certainly helps as well |

Think there's a reasonable chance Adams would've been fired after the season if UPL didn't stand on his head for the length of time he did.
They were bottom 5 in the league team without him.
UPL saved Adams job, IMO. |

If Girgensons walks because Kevyn didn't offer him a 5 year deal last year, it's going to look even worse |

Wouldn't hate it. But hes not a centreman and the left is pretty full unless Skinner is moved.

towes, kane
macKinnon, rantanen
kopitar, doughty
we get reinhart, eichel, dahlin, power, etc and can't even get the phucking 8th seed

you are not getting the 7th seed in the east with 30 point players, let alone ahead of the bolts, panthers, leafs or bruins in the division
the self appointed victory laps are not warranted as of now |
