Colorado was majority trades and UFA.

St Louis most important player was surely drafted by them in ROR, right?

- ImThatGuy

No, no, no. People mistake the final touches that cup contenders make with building a foundation. It matters, of course, but there are few better examples of draft and develop than Colorado. This is NOT to say that you can't help it along with other moves.

Especially with them trading for Markstrom and being the frontrunner for Pesce.
- kingcong39

Which Markstron are they getting? The guy has historically been mediocre every other year, and this is that year. There is a lot to like, but as with everyone else, there are questions. That D is still pretty young, but it should be worlds better than last year.

all those teams you mentioned made playoff runs within 2 years from drafting a crosby, malkin
towes, kane
macKinnon, rantanen
kopitar, doughty

we get reinhart, eichel, dahlin, power, etc and can't even get the phucking 8th seed

again just stop with the excuses for this team

- homiedclown

I’m not making excuses for this team ?

Not making the playoffs last year was an epic failure.

Pointing out the reasons why Dorion is unemployed isn’t giving Buffalo a pass

How were the Sabres two best forwards acquired again?

They drafted Thompson and Tuch, right?

same could be said for Ryan Miller's career as a sabre

I think if the D is fine, he will be fine

22 years ago today, we entered bankruptcy. I know that the last few years have been frustrating, but.... that was a bad time.

90% of that roster was drafted and developed by St Louis. ROR was one of the few that weren’t.

Colorado half the team was drafted and developed and make up 90% of the core of that team.

Edmonton was a bounce away from winning it themselves and their team 80% came via the draft.

When Buffalo becomes a no income tax city with amazing weather like Vegas and Florida and can attract top talent and pay them next to nothing then we can say Frank the draft ok ?

It's why they just aren't adding only a goaltender.

Adding Pesce to their D core and not having a major player on defense injured for much of the year will vastly improve their performance.

Wouldn't hate it. But hes not a centreman and the left is pretty full unless Skinner is moved.
- DirtyDan

I won't hate it if that's an afterthought trade for us. We need a lot more than him. He's maybe a 20pt player here...

I think we should trade Thompson and Tuch and Byram for picks.

Really do this the right way and get that core in place and then and ONLY THEN should they consider trading 7th rd picks only for star players.

Kevyn is revolutionizing the sport after all.

Because most of the positives of his tenure will be felt the next several years.

It’s his job to win this year to make sure he’s here to see it.

Tage/Cozens/Dahlin/Power contracts

Quinn/Peterka/Benson/Savoie/Kulich/Levi

This is a team ready to explode now and be sustainable for years, and Adams has a hand in it.

If Girgensons walks because Kevyn didn't offer him a 5 year deal last year, it's going to look even worse
- Hank Balling

Another solid post jcrags, you must have stayed at a holiday inn last night

I’d settle for the 3 year deal on the table

Peterka and Mittelstadt were technically the best players last season.

Both acquired in the draft. One was traded away

You're like a straw man argument on steroids, every day. You are arguing against arguments that nobody is making. Nobody said you can't make trades, or even shouldn't make trades. All that was said was that the core of most teams starts with drafting. It doesn't mean that you can't trade those players, and it doesn't mean that is the only way to build. I want to say that I think you know this, but I am not so sure.....

Tage and cozens is a very good start at center for most franchises .

Add a guy like Sam Bennett or max domi and we’re 3 nhl centers deep.

Just slide girgs back to center on the 4th line

Easy peasy

A 3-year deal could move Girgensons into 3rd place all time for games played as a Sabre with 934. Currently Ramsey owns that spot with 911GP
