That decision - more than any other - that KA has or hasn't made screwed the Sabres for years

22-23 is the only season it would have actually mattered. I don't want to diminish the importance of that idea though.
- TheSabresTaco

If they made it in 22-23, there's no way of knowing if this year would have played out differently. It's ancient history at this point but that was a bungler's bungle job

lol

my vote is 1x3.25 for EJ. Plenty to pick from though. Cody Eakin 2x2.25 is a close 2nd. At least that one had a shred of merit prior to signing.

The neck roll face off win against Eichel in the return was easily worth 4.5M

I don't put much thought into his UFA decision. Why wouldn't he want to play in Boston over Buffalo? That decision isn't all about money and term.
- Lunaion

No doubt. Ullmark's a pretty thoughtful guy and I know he was going through a depression being away from his young family. But he liked Buffalo too. Boston gave him the opportunity to be an even quicker flight back home. Along with the other perks.

Ullmark-UPL has a stronger start last season and changes everything.

he'd be even more confident in bringing the band back together. Same poopty players. He didn't even bother going to UFA for any forwards or make any trades. He did jack all. If the team was better? he does the same (frank)in' job.

what a (frank)in hack job. my god. Eric Comrie had Carter Hutton syndrome.

I had optimistic hopes for that Comrie signing. He had great numbers, till Comrienism died here.

He was given more term in Boston. That's a fact. The money, last I heard, was the same.
- TheSabresTaco

That isn't what was reported at the time, and what Adams himself said. Anyway, as with so many other players not named Reinhart, the revisionist history around here never ceases to amaze. Ullmark was FAR from a sure thing at the time. The vast majority here were fine with him walking at the time because of injury history and sporadic play.

You should get that checked out. Already pooped twice today, and I’m an hour behind you guys. If I really needed to, I can squeeze another out by lunch.

A lot of players flat out won't go to Canada.
- TheSabresTaco

I believe they are taxed up to 55% of their paycheck now in Canada.

Also think about Florida, no income tax. Can’t beat that

Some Sabres signings were due to family being close to the border / Canada and close to where they grew up.

Skinner is one guy that mentioned that in the past.

I think power said something about it. He is from Burlington ON.

I’ve sat next to Stamkos grandpa at a Sabres Tampa game.

Walter Gretzky goes to s few Sabres games a year. I’ve seen him.

I fully understand we don’t have Wayne or stamkos. My point is that players that live close by in Canada. Families with come visit and watch games and can easily make it home.

I still think Tij Iginla or Carter Yakemchuk is the pick for Buffalo.

They would have to move up to get Iginla. He doesn't get past Calgary.

That's been reported by others for a few days now. I'd like Strome for 3C, but it could be Dowd at 4C.

Given his regression this year and poor playoff play...were they right?

Fwiw, I wanted to keep him. We'd invested the time and thought him/UPL would be a quality tandem.

Sportsnet had a whole tv segment on Ullmark. Essentially, he liked Buffalo but was depressed and needed a change. He lost his father and other stuff. Also losing a lot and getting injured doesn’t help.

Boston was that change of scenery.

He isn’t coming back here

Does that make Krebs the defacto 3C then?

And agreed on Iginla, I'm just crossing my fingers someone falls the Flames just can't pass on. But him or Yak are the two tickets, to me...if not, trade the pick.

“Peyton Krebs was the key piece is acquiring Eichel”

Prospects become suspects very quickly.

Trade them while value is high.
