In 2020, Bill Zito infilled his roster like the Sabres need to do right now. They had the core pieces but they needed depth and smart adds. Then they were really good, then they went out and sent away a 115 point pending UFA and a top pairing defenseman for Matt Tkachuk. Sent away a pair of prospects for Sam Reinhart. Mined Verhaeghe and Forsling along the way.

This is what great GMs do. Even when you have a great team, you strive for more.

Ville Leino is an awfulk signing.

Connor Clifton was an awful signing.

The guy who's gonna end up top 20 in goals in franchise history was not an awful guy to sign
