I know it’s happened before but giving the Smythe to a runner up player baffles me. Like McDavid wants that, he’d probably like to drop kick it into the crowd. |

McDavid is NOT the messiah.
And, my life is exactly the same after Team B won the Cup over Team A.
I had hoped the world would somehow be better or different today. It's not. It's the same exact poopshow except the Panthers get to throw a parade for their 38 fans.

Today the world can re-focus on what really matters ...the Leafs.
Buyouts start tomorrow. Draft on Friday. EF says to expect bananas ..many bananas.

I feel the same way - but isn't it only the 4th time a non-winning player has been awarded the Smythe? How many had to do it on the road - and did they go out in front of 19000 people and get the living poop booed out of them?
Edit: Above Aaron says it's the 6th, and I'll take his word for it. - Monkeypunk
The others were all goalies: Crozier, Glen Hall, Reggie Leach, Hextall and Giguerre. I know that Giggy came out and accepted the trophy.
I doubt that McDavid would have been booed. Panther fans were pretty happy and there were thousands of Oiler fans there. He should have sucked it up and accepted his trophy. |

Ugh another cup in handmaids tale Florida.
4 in row is too much to ask in the finals of modern era hockey. Much too difficult

interesting Goalie swap for the Sens. now it looks like they upgraded. but its going to be fun to watch this play out.
it would not surprise me to see Korp magically turn into a good goalie and Ullmark struggle. who ends up with better stats at seasons end? |

Thank god, because there are like zero FLA fans on here to dunk on us over and over all summer long.
And anyone rooting for the Oilers should be banned from wearing a Leafs avatar on here. Get your head straight.
Hatred and bitterness is what unites us all, not passion. |

Korpisalo has never really managed to put up good numbers consistently ever. Ulmark put up good numbers on literally Buffalo.
Thinking Ulmark is a real safe bet. |

Just took a read of the Oilers blog - same west coast super duper hockey talkers we see in here are now in there trolling Oilers fans.
What a bunch of losers those specific Canucks fans are, good god.
I feel kinda' empty now that the season is done, I don't know that I would have felt any less empty had the Oilers won the cup to be honest but on to the off season mayhem!
Korpi will find his game in Boston and Ullmark will suffer greatly behind the porous Ottawa defensive system and walk after the season to another team. Spatso cries but puts on his brave face and claims it's the best move for Ottawa for "reasons" all the while continuing to post in here all his remarkably bad takes on all things Leafs and will continue to be ignored and laughed at.
These are my hopes so far as it relates to what happens next season based on off season moves so far. lol

Your post factually makes sense but there is no place for sense, facts nor reality in here!
Come on Joel we can will this to go horribly for the Sens if we all wish for it!
This is the way! lol

If Ottawa can clean up on the D side, then should work out.
the other thing is, it looks like Ullmark will just play out the season and not sign. so could be 1 and done |

Rogers depriving Canadians that aren't over 70 years old or living in their grandparents basements the opportunity to watch a Canadian team in the SCF is criminal. |

re korp ullmark
JFresh
@JFreshHockey
Linus Ullmark's expected save percentage in 2023-24 was 90.3%. Korpisalo's was 90%. Boston's team defence was getting bailed by their goaltending, not the other way around.
JFresh
@JFreshHockey
It's very possible that Korpisalo outperforms Ullmark next year because 1. it's goalies 2. Boston's goalie coaching track record is unreal
But the diff between them was not caused by team defence |

They booed when they simply heard his name.
I don't blame him one bit for not going back out there - I don't think he owes anybody anything with regards to accepting a trophy. It's precisely not the trophy he wanted. I don't know if he'll _ever_ appreciate that Conn Smythe. It's a symbol of failure.

I can see why he wouldn't have and am not really bothered either way, but there is room for the ol sportsmanship argument there. Would have said more about his character had he bit the bullet and trotted out there for it. |
