Not the cleanest of “barons” either
The reason the girls were wanted listed on the sign pretty much sums the place up too lol

This is all ridiculous.
There’s a whole season to be played, those comparables were signed as an expiring deal.
Sometimes you think too much and it gets you into trouble. - Santo_44
There is a whole season to be played - so why are they rushing into signing him now on a deal that would kick in to start to the 2025-26 season?
Here's my point - and it was the exact same point I made with the Nylander contract - whether they sign Woll _now_ or at the end of the year, his value is not going to exceed a $4m bridge deal. Even if he has a great and healthy year, he'll get the Oettinger deal. So why would they give him the 4m Oettinger deal now - the most he could possibly earn now - instead of waiting to see how the year plays out? Similarly, why give Nylander a deal when he was at the apex? They paid him for Pasta's production, where he was averaging at the time, and got Marner's production level. Still star levels of production, but quite possibly a million dollars in the difference on AAV.
It's not overthinking - it's being cap conscious. Something this team consistently won't (frank)ing do.

I always acted super nice around them, not close, but respectful. They ran a few bars and starting in the early 90s I’d play in a cover band(s) doing the stuff they’d like to hear and get paid about $600 each in a 4 piece band for about 12 hours of work doing both a Friday and Saturday and that time includes setup, sound work, and tear down. Oh and free beer as well. The pre cell phone era was a different time lol |

That's not right MP. Oettinger only gave up RFA years ....he'll be an RFA when his current deal expires. You've got to compare apples to apples ..and the biggest variable is contractual status/leverage.
If you take a pass now that's fine. You avoid the risk of him being poop. But if he has a great year he's got all the leverage next summer. He goes to arbitration and pulls an Ullmark or Samsonov and then walks into UFA. Good (even mediocre) 27 yr old goalies get paid (Ullmark, Jarry, Husso, Peterson, Binnington, etc....). All he has to do to get their is take a 1 yr deal next summer and hit UFA.
If he's good again you're in a bidding war at $5-6M minimum.

Neither team has a preference of mine at this point… coming back from being down 3-0 earns the right for enjoyment winning a series if it goes that way. The home team winning will always look nicer tho. Either way will be cool for me 👍 |
