I have a bad feeling that next year Ottawa is going to find out that the problem was Korpisalo, but it was their team defense all along. Because Korpisalo is going to be a $3m star in Boston and Ullmark is going to be a $5m (+$1m in Korpisalo's retention) albatross in Ottawa.
Overall it doesn't feel THAT heavy given that it's a late 1st and a bottom-6 player, but I don't actually think Ottawa has gotten better as a result of this trade. - Monkeypunk
also depends what The Sens do on D as well. They are rumour be on Tanev.
we'll find this time next week. |

That might be the worst call I’ve ever seen in a Cup Finals…maybe just in playoffs ever.
This is how Oilers get it going - either a goal on PP or get the momentum here for the rest of period. They have been sleepy yo to this point.

And I'm not arguing that point ...in fact I probably would've bet against him again as well. All I'm saying is that if they are betting on him then it was always going to take about 3.5M x 3 to get him to do it.
This summer it was either buy a few years while you have some leverage or roll the dice and see how the year plays out. I get what Tree is doing ..not sure I'd have done it but I get it. - The Law
Then we're on the same page - I get WHY they did it, but man it feels like betting on the Leafs to beat Boston in a game 7. It'll feel great if it pays off, but the odds are not ever in our favour.

Korpisalo has been poop his entire career outside of 11 games in LA and a playoff series vs the leafs. |

Well the Bruins Cup was 2011.
How long ago was that high-stick?
And believe me, I was hoping for the Leafs back then as I figured they had better chance to sink the Habs...

It's not just their D corps, it's their entire team approach towards defense has been atrocious. Firing DJ Smith and hiring Travis Green? That's like changing the greeter at a failing Walmart and figuring it'll solve the issues.

Convinced myself yesterday that I was pulling for the Oilers.
My true feelings have made themselves known while watching the game.

No not them but practically the same thing. The primary one here in London are called The Outlaws. - Dozzer
Dozzer it was HA, HA pretty much eliminated the Outlaws from London in late 90's early 2000's, in 1998 2 Outlaws were shot and killed leaving the Beef and I believe on the day of their funeral TJ Baxters was bombed |

Watch the play though, Tkachuk catches an edge and goes down but as the Oiler is skating, he extends his shins out towards him. There was an intent in that.
Besides there was a non-called goalie interference call seconds before so there's karma there.

Given what they ate letting go? It was a real 💩 call. Back ref too at that. Think ot was far more Tkachuk bias there but... 🤷♂️. Refs are always 💩 in the nhl, have been for years. Gotta just play through it. |

Oh gimme a break man - he extended his shin pad? It was a garbage call to make especially in a Cup. Looks worse that Nurse just slew footed Tkachuk a foot away from the ref with no call.
A guy looses and edge - trip
Slew foot - no call |

They let about 7 cross checks by each team go in 1st that have been called all playoffs too - which I’m fine with. Let them play. Just don’t call a ticky tack thing like that. He lost an edge and went for a slide. |

A penalty is a penalty no matter what, The whole "let them play" narrative is silly. |

Korpisalo has been poop his entire career outside of 11 games in LA and a playoff series vs the leafs. - joel878
Columbus has always been a godawful team and so was Ottawa. Those 11 games in LA was the first time in his life he had a real defense in front of him that also controlled the puck and the play - and he was very good. Look, I'm not going into Mr. Sir's area of loving Korpisalo, but he is a more than adequate goalie with a solid team defense in front of him - which LA had until they stupidly traded away Iafallo and Villardi for PLD - and which Boston definitely has.
I wouldn't discount a resurgent - if not career best season for him. |
