the hating of guys mostly comes when they can't do anything in the playoffs though - jimbro83
Guentzel is a proven playoff producer, but is he what this team needs? He's not a natural RW and not a bigger body that can lead a forecheck. To me this team has enough high end skill to win. They need to fill in the other pieces that helps drive play 5v5 and punish opponents in the corners.
He's a great player but is he the "right" player? I'm not sure |

Yea don’t get it. The good news is Drury really wanted him at the deadline and can now get him for nothing but money. Think he is going hard |

They are gonna need to create more room money wise if you want that. Just to fill out the rest of the roster. |

I don't think I'm saying anything negative about Jake. I'm just saying I'm not convinced that he's the missing piece. If they end up adding him I hope I'm wrong |

Guentzel had 55 even strength points last year, but today we don't need those |

He is. He produces everywhere he goes and will surely help Mika and CK20.
I can see Drury freeing up around $7M by this weekend at the draft.
If Kakko is traded for picks, then I strongly believe Fil is also dealt for picks and maybe a player for Hartford.
If Fil is on the team, I can see Drury signing Domi to play wing and then fill in a center if Fill gets hurt again. |

Also in 2 years Panarin could be gone, need someone to pick up his scoring slack |

I'm not really concerned with how Guentzel fits with the rest of the forwards when he's arguably better than all of them besides Panarin |

I thought you liked good 5 on 5 players
oh wait, you change from wanting the Rangers to suck and complain about 5 on 5 play on every other post

Not wanting him and being honest about him are 2 different things. I’d love if they got him. But we have to understand we’ll be paying him 10? 11? Million as he declines in 2-3 years. |

That's fair, but with the current contracts we have you have to have some care as to how he fits because guys like Mika aren't going anywhere.
I could definitely get on board with him, I'm just concerned it would make us even more one-dimensional. Maybe if the bottom 6 is constructed to be heavier that would help. I agree passing on a guy like Jake for free is tough though |

especially if not signing him means he goes to one of teams we always compete against

Panarin Trocheck Laf

I don’t see many teams running to trade for Chytil tho. I think he needs a year to see where he’s at for teams to consider him |
