not good enough though - Greschnergy#4
The Cup gets earned by a team effort, not one player. The Oilers wouldn't have gotten anywhere without him. |

Yet still worthy of the Conn Smythe which was rightly awarded to the most deserving person. If Florida sweeps, Bob gets it |

Full agree on that one. I'd say Bobrovsky allowing 12GA in the three losses is much more egregious than McDavid not scoring in the final two games, if we are discussing why someone should or shouldn't have won the trophy.
Draisaitl had no goals and 3 assists in the final. Hyman had zero goals. RNH had 1 goal and 1 assist. Most of the Oilers core didn't show up and/or got shut down. That's why they lost, not (mainly) because McDavid didn't score in two games. |

You don’t win the grind of the playoffs with a 5’10 175 lb defenseman and a 5’11 185 lb defenseman as regulars. Fox is our small puck mover, no room for 2 in the playoffs. - nyrangers9479
Colorado definitely did not win with two undersized puck movers. This man don't miss! |

seems like all speculation. cant read your link as - hello it's me 2050
This is from an article yesterday. If you can't read the last link (there's ways around it), you won't be able to read this one either. But it's from the Jets beat writer:

Kevyn Adams would rather lose and not help the Rangers. Almost have to respect his level of pettiness. - blacksheep1
It’s amazing, it’s not like they are local rivals, I don’t even consider them a NY team. They are so far north they should be considered Canadian. Why do you think he wouldn’t trade Eichel to the Rangers?!! |

Because Eichel wanted to go to the Rangers and it was leaked. So Adams was pissed. |

agree to disagree with you and chiefs- If his name is not McDavid, no way this happens.

Jones and Fox. Both cant be in the lineup come playoff time, and we know which one that will be ……… |

Just because two defenseman aren't above 6 ft tall, doesn't mean we can't win a cup with said group I feel this is such a flawed way of thinking. Tom is right in that the Avs won with more than 1 defenseman under 6 foot (Makar and Girard). So why can't we? |

I get that. But all factors have to be considered, right? As I mentioned in the post you quoted, 3 of our top 4 D were hurt for >50% of the playoffs. Would they have looked differently with a fully healthy Fox? I'd like to think so. Could we have kept up with the Oilers....who knows. I know Skinner isn't Bobrovsky and the NYR found ways to score against lesser goalies like Anderson & Lindgren
I just don't agree that a D unit of Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Schneider, Troubs, and Jones automatically equates to an early playoff exit - NYR11
If the D had been healthy i don’t think the games would’ve been as one sided as they were. And we still were in every game. It was the nail in the coffin imo. Not so much Trouba but Lindgren and Fox hurt really doomed any chance we had |

One sided? They were one goal games!!!
So it wasnt the first line not producing anything offensively? It was the defense's fault. You know how you can play better defensively? Play in the offensive zone.
The Rangers losses were by one goal except for the first game which was 3 but one was an empty net. Imagine if they chipped in a few? |

I think the rangers defense has to be better offensively at evens. They don’t have the personnel to help the fwds much there except fox and miller. Need more of that
