My two targets for the draft.

First round:
https://www.eliteprospect...er/597680/dean-letourneau

Third round/fourth round (may have to acquire a 3rd rounder somehow)
https://www.eliteprospect...yer/806027/miroslav-satan

This is assuming Sweeney doesn't trade up in the first

I would love to see us land Tij Iginla somehow. Not a big as his dad, but can score.

they already traded for a center, taking care of a big need.

To be fair, Kastelic does fill a need on the 4th line. A grittier forward that will stick for his teammates and is good at faceoffs. I thought Beecher showed some promise but the more players that can win a faceoff, the better.

Jury is out on the Trade, I mean they did get a 1st round pick and a much needed type of player in Kastellic, but not sure about the 3m @ 4 years on Korp

Considering there is No real #1 Center available in the Year they finally have a Ton of Cap Space, I just hope they don't Overpay to add another #2 / #3 Center.
Just No way a guy like Lindholm is worth anything North of 6m a year, and he will get it, and I am on the resign Jake bandwagon - he now has a complete game, All 3 Zones and he will get in the 6 - 6.5 range

holy crap they have 7 centers, maybe trade coyle or zacha? especially if they go and get ar real #1 center, that would give them a little buffer room with the cap space after signing Swayman, a center, and a D.

Iginla was on my list if we were picking top 10. Sadly I dont think that will happen.

Berkly Catton would be my runner up top 10. Kid reminds me a lot of Marc Savard in his prime.

If they sign someone like Lindholm, my expectation is that Zacha becomes a full time winger. He plays better on the wing.

I am also in the keep Debrusk camp. He would have had much better numbers last year if they had him on the powerplay instead of JVR. He is starting to do a lot of things right and is right around the same age as Blake Wheeler when he took a major step forward. Our skilled players are few and far between right now, so losing Debrusk will hurt.

The rumor is he doesn't want to come back though. And he wants a payday that far exceeds his proven value.

I dont know if its true or not, but IF it is true that he wants north of 6 and term then hard pass. Also comparing him to Wheeler is a VERY generous comparison. He reminds me more of Marco Sturm than Blake Wheeler.

Hard no on DeBrusk if he's asking for 6.5m

In the 7 seasons DeBrusk has been with the Bruins he's been shown to be a mid-40s point guy.

Wheeler on the other hand hit 64 pts by year 4.

The two are not comparable. DeBrusk has shown no indication he can get above 50 pts. The guy is streaky, and can't seem to play a full season very often.

I'm with you on JD, but the haters here will never give him a break. What the heck, just let one of our few skill guys walk...we can replace him since we have so many. What the hell, Kase err...Lysell is ready to take the next step.

And rightfully so, the odds makers are already having the B's finishing 4th in the Atlantic. I'm back to not trusting Sweeney to do much right with the cash and 1st rounder. Sigh...
I sort expect a "trade" of Debrusk for Bertuzzi...we lose that "trade" big time.

You equate over-valued with "hate". You are wrong.

But answer this... would you honestly give DeBrusk 6m+ on a multi-year deal?

JD can stay at the right price. He just isn't worth 6+ mil if that is the ask.

For me, I might go as high as 5.5 for 4 years. But any more and he is more than welcome to test the market.

Also does JD want to stay? Really seems to me like he would prefer playing with an all star center that can pump his numbers.

But i get it. Makes us seem like we are anti-DeBrusk. I always thought he would test the market regardless after he was being coy on if he wanted to stick around when the season ended. I guess we will see.

I dont think we lose that trade as much as you make it seem. Not that I specifically want Bert, but I think we can stop pretending like DeBrusk is a world beater. He isnt. He is a decent two way player capable of 50 points. Could he produce more with an all star center? Sure. Do the bruins have one of those? No.

If DeBrusk resigns, I expect 40-55 points. And if Sweeney pays 6+mil for that, THAT is when we lose.

At $6M, yes...above I would have to see the terms.

And you don't think Bert is looking for the same? JD is a MUCH better 200ft player. Look at JD's post season stats. You want Bert on the PK?

They need to move Lysell to get something for Kase II. They guy can't stay on the ice.

Actually no, I think Bert will sign for less than 6. I'll eventually venture to say he will probably be a full mil or more under Debrusk after the dust settles.

So again, players need to be at the right price. Do I want Bert, not exactly my first choice. But would I rather have Bert at 5 over JD at 6-6.25? 100% I would.

Not really understanding why lysell is all of a sudden inserted. But I'll just chalk it up as you thinking he is the next man up or something. He isn't but yeah, lysell is a disappointment. Darn

Merkulov has played better than lysell. But if you don't like him elevate geekie or Frederic. They both played just as well as debrusk and their playoff pedigree will come. Brazeau is a promising option to try. That's just internal.

Then they have cap space. So why is it only JD at 6+ or bust? Is he the secret ingredient to the cup. A part of the core?

Debrusk disappeared more than Hall when we had him....and hall was still better. Why does debrusk deserve 6+? Make it make sense

Does Necas? I know I'm jumping around some but you have to look at what else is a possibility. You want to pay someone like Necas, who the Bruins are linked to, and his 11 goals/30 points similar money?

Not really. Not sold on Necas. You don't like 30+ aged free agents, I don't mind as much. I'll use one I like. Taffoli. Sign him to a 4 year deal. You can get him for less than 6, and you will get similar numbers out of him as debrusk was producing and he is versatile.

Take that with the potential of adding a Lindholm or Stephenson, the culminating effect is more consistent production during the regular season and you can give current guys that have earned it a more prominent role. (I'm thinking geekie specifically).

If you want to compare taffoli to JD head to head, go ahead. This specific example is getting a similar forward for less term and money and producing similar results. That's what I'm getting at. We already have forwards that do what JD can do in the regular season. Need to do well there first before we talk about more playoffs.

Sweeney needs to weaponize this cap space
