Flyers have apparently met with Eiserman multiple times and are impressed with him.

DB and, more importantly, KJ finding out that the best way to get a player like Demidov is to not try so hard during the season especially when you know all it will do is place you in draft day purgatory
- mr4tno

yep kind of funny how now they want to move up. had they really been "rebuilding" they wouldn't have the need to probably move up.

Habs fans will then promptly burn the city down when the team passes on another potentially elite Russian to take another defenseman

What a great morning with rumors. Supposedly, Carolina trying to get to #4 dangling Necas as part of the deal. Does Waddell luv Necas?

If Waddell trades 4OA to Carolina after freshly being hired from there... lol... what an inside job.

Would be nice if teams are afraid of him because of the Russian factor, because apparently the Flyers have figured it out. Still, not sure how I feel about rooting for a team full of Russian players. I ama product of the era of the Red Army team against the NHL, and that game in 1976 cemented me as a Flyers fan for life.
- jd250

Flyers haven't figured it out. It was never the issue that you and others made it into. You ignored facts and history. You ignored what was told to you numerous times.

Much of what you wrote above seems very tenuosly related to what I am questioning. Let me focus on the only relevant thing you wrote above (in bold)

1 step forward, 2 steps back means more losing, no? How is that creating a winning culture?

- PT21

It’s with the understanding that they simply are not good enough… they need an influx of talent. The culture will be “sustainable” with winning… not without…. Did you enjoy last nights debate? 😂

The winning culture isn’t necessary until you’ve acquired your core building blocks. Both Cup finalists this year had losing cultures until they got the building blocks in place and then built around them. To get those building blocks you need to lose.

I can understand a team wanting a solid culture around young players even when they’re losing to illustrate good habits as a pro. An aging veteran who is well past their prime but had won before can show young players the importance of taking care of your body, how to prepare, being on the road, etc. I do believe there’s value in that. And it’s important to not have bad locker room guys around them. But, to have a good culture, doesn’t mean you have to go nuts and win a lot. Calling it a winning culture is taken too literally. It’s more about having a professional culture.

- Schmojo

Sure

What he meant was that culture in and of itself is meaningless, and what matters are the players knowing they are winners or can be winners. The problem is, the steps he suggested (trading away good players) would lead to a losing culture, at least for the present, and there is a contradiction there that needed clarification. Something like: you need to build a winning culture and the first step towards that is building a losing culture. (Sounds like Alice in Wonderland, but probably true).

Excellent and well explained. Culture is a misused term and is overrated. Simply get the right mix of skill and talent and the culture will build itself. Flyers use buzzwords like culture as a marketing ploy to suck in gullible fans.

That's not what he meant at all. He didn't state that culture is meaningless. He's saying that you have to get worse to get better and that has to come before building a winning culture. No contradiction involved. Simply a process.

You have "culture", "results", "now" and "future", all mixed up in your mind.

I feel like this is the script from the movie Draft Day and Danny is Kevin Costner.

Columbus is Indianapolis trying to move the QB (Lindstrom).

What he is saying, makes perfect sense. Here is what is in your mind. It is completely obvious that you're simply trying to get retribution for a recent past conversation in which you took a beating. Desperately trying to create an issue when there isn't one.

Be prepared for the Flyers to make zero deals, re-sign TK and draft Yakemchuk or Helenius at #12
- BiggE

If that's the worst thing that happens, that's pretty good. Rather that than reaching for something not worth it.
