No I don’t… because my premise is pretty simple. F culture if it’s not sustainable if you can’t win. To win they need more talent… you seem on edge today… what’s the deal?
- landros 2

Your premise then is exactly what I wrote in response to Schmojo. You should have clarified that when you talk about the importance of a "winning culture" it needs to be preceded by the acknowledgement that there is a contradiction there, because the winning culture needs to be preceded by a losing culture.

As to your other issue about me being persnickety and so on, I am in a good mood today, for professional reasons. But sure, I can see why you would think I am unnecesarily needling you. It is simply to point out to you, in a small example illustrating the large, that you need to put a bit more effort into your posts and your opinions. What did you did in the preceding hour was to demonstrate that you are either too lazy or too dense to appreciate a very basic contradiction in your original post.

understand you have retired, and this is a site that veers between average to pitiful, but there is no reason to lower one's standards because of the company one is in.

What a beautiful night in Georgia yesterday

Absolutely hilarious

couldn't bring myself to watch it as not wasting time on those fools. the "highlights" were great. wish the donald brought up the grand daughter he doesn't acknowledge or has ever met when he mentioned morals of an alley cat.

seeing jill lead him off the stage like a dog awesome to watch. if you vote for this guy you must not love the USA.

You're completely oblivious to the fact that your standing on here and your credibility is completely in the toilet. I'm proud of the fact that I had a lot to do with exposing you for who and what you are. You sit in judgement of others while exposing yourself as someone so desperate and needy to having to pass yourself off as superior, that you either have to repeatedly try and prop yourself up with false and fake credentials. Or you have to criticize others as a whole in order to feel good about yourself. You know deep down inside that you are below the company that you criticize. Both in terms of intelligence and morality and ethics. You have displayed that yet again today. Seek therapy.

Amen

The amount of personal issues between people here just destroys any attempt at talking about the team.

No one here works for the team. No one here works for any team. Everyone here has had great opinions. Everyone here has had awful opinions. Let’s move on and talk about the team and not each other.

I’m intrigued by the Flyers moving up to 4 because they still have so many picks. But I still feel like that’s a lot.

Is that where we are in today's world..."injecting politics" is considered when comparing another to our current bumbling buffoon of a President.

Would I be "injecting music" if I called someone a Bieber turd?

- Glak18

I was merely referring to the fact that the discussion had very little to do with the debate yesterday.

As for the debate yesterday, I am not sure what reaction you want to evoke from me. Biden resembled a man who is senile. It was probably the second worse debate I have watched in my life, and I have seen every Presidential debate that ever occurred.

If the choice was say Nikki Haley (or Rubio or even De Santis) versus the incumbent, the former would get my vote. In the case of the current choices, I would frankly vote for MJL over the challenger, and my opinion of MJL has been extensively noted here.

I would do so because a vote is not just for a man, in as much as we are not electing a king. It is for his policies, and the institutions he carries along with him. It is also because of a decades long familiiarity with the challenger and his core level incompetence, his pathologies and an extensive knowledge of his past policies and his future ones, especially the economic kind.

Having said that, I also feel this country needs to suffer. Countries often come to their senses after deep suffering, which is why you often see very pragmatic policies in nations after wars. As such, I am now partially reconciled to a certain destruction that is needed. My only regret is that this destruction will not be immediate but will take place over a more drawn out time.

That is all I am going to say about it. Now that my reaction has been successfully provoked, shall we move on?

Yeah let’s hope the news and rumors start pouring in so we all call all chat and opine about hockey.

Anyone know of that rumor about the 4th is dead or still a possibility? Regardless of the outcome, it’s encouraging to see GMDB being aggressive. If he can’t find a dance partner it’s not his fault but I love the boldness.

Yep...another mistake by Danny...TK announcement coming soon.

Flyers buying out Atkinson
The Philadelphia Flyers are buying out the contract of forward Cam Atkinson, general manager Daniel Briere announced.

Atkinson is signed through next season at a cap hit of $5.875 million. He posted 13 goals and 28 points in 70 games this season, but became a regular healthy scratch late in the year. A veteran of 770 NHL games, Atkinson has 249 goals and 480 points over his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Flyers.

Buying out the 35-year-old forward will leave the Flyers with a cap hit of $2.36 million for next season and add a cap charge of $1.76 million in 2025-26.

Roster update: The Flyers will buy out the remainder of the contract of forward Cam Atkinson, according to General Manager, Daniel Brière. https://t.co/ZhLcnVkiV3

— Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) June 28, 2024
Briere had previously said the team was weighing a buyout for goaltender Cal Petersen, but no announcement was made on his status Friday.

Petersen, acquired in a trade from the Los Angeles Kings last summer, spent the majority of this season in the American Hockey League. He appeared in five games with the Flyers, positing a 2-2-0 record with a .864 save percentage and a 3.90 goals-against average. He counted for $3.85 million against the Flyers cap last season while in the minors as the Flyers received some relief on his $5 million cap hit. He is signed through next season as well and a buyout would leave Philadelphia with a $1 million cap hit in the upcoming season and a $2 million charge the following year.

EF said they would talk again today. I don’t think it’s dead. And in my opinion I sometimes think rumors are leaked to put pressure on a team.

It could happen. But man, it’s a tough balance between trading extra picks when you need a large amount of young talent infusion or getting less pieces but a truly elite talent.

I feel like the Flyers have lacked elite talent for sometime now and it’s hurt them.

The point being...saying the name of the devil doesn't "inject" evil into a conversation.

People need to stop this BS that their feelings are hurt and pull their big boy britches up. People who don't want to talk politics always seem to be the ones that make everything political.
