I think the Flyers did the right thing in buying out Cam. I don't like that more dead money is on the cap this year and next, but the Flyers did the right thing to get a little cap space this year and also do right by the player. Keeping Cam on the team and not playing him or playing him in a limited role would be bad for the team and just create a disgruntled player. The Flyers tried to trade Cam and he would not accept a trade, so I don't think the Flyers have much choice.

Who is DB working for? The Flyers or Cam?

Just dumb... but I guess they felt they needed to be the nice guy.

Might have turned out differently if mm hadn't arrived 2 years early. But 600,000 wasn't going to be enough to pay him or take on any other salary for deals. Everyone wants a good deal to be made, but there's managing the cap.

It seems the Colorado deal has thrown a monkey wrench into the situation. Money is going to be tied up there if they can't work something out. How long can Johansson be injured? Is he going to ride the injury through the entire year+ ? These deals have snags.

Its the right thing for the team also. They gain about $3M in cap space this year, and have just a small hit of $1.7M next season, which will probably be covered by in the increase in the cap next season. Having a disgruntled veteran on the team is also not good for the team.

You're completely oblivious to the fact that your standing on here and your credibility is completely in the toilet. I'm proud of the fact that I had a lot to do with exposing you for who and what you are. You sit in judgement of others while exposing yourself as someone so desperate and needy to having to pass yourself off as superior, that you either have to repeatedly try and prop yourself up with false and fake credentials. Or you have to criticize others as a whole in order to feel good about yourself. You know deep down inside that you are below the company that you criticize. Both in terms of intelligence and morality and ethics. You have displayed that yet again today. Seek therapy.

Danny has a little more insight into the situation as he himself was bought out by Flyers

As far as TK goes, if the Flyers do not extend him this off season, I think that would mean the two sides are far apart on an extension and the Flyers will trade TK at the deadline next year, which I think would be the best time to trade him.

did the player do right for the organization? yes they had a choice. they choose the lazy easy path.

best time is now as too many variables in play if you wait.

Vote for the administration not the guy I guess. I think both parties are in a position where they should be saying that.

Problem is the right offers nothing to anyone besides their base and that is ultimately going to cost them undecided voters.

Back to hockey.

- hereticpride

The left doesn't have a base? That has been the root cause of inflation...the green deal was pushed for the base. The executive order to stop drilling for oil put us back in the position to buy oil from Valenzuela and Russia. And how was that a good thing? Besides the fact that they aren't allies of ours, pricing was not optimal. When we had domestic oil we were able to keep fuel costs down. Economics 101: Significantly raise the cost of fuel, which our trucks use to transport goods and food, and you have inflation. Not a good policy when the Fed was already printing money like no tomorrow. Delicate thing the U.S. economy is.

then see what he can do in camp after a summer not rehabbing. him on the 4th line would have been fine for where the flyers are at.

players observe, talk and compare. If the Flyers want to attact good players and also resign their own good players, its these types of move that help make that happen. Keeping Cam on the team in a limited role would be detrimmental to the team and to Cam, who obviously wants to keep playing.

Actually I was surprised there was even interest in Cam and that he refused the trade. Playing on San Jose next season is going to be a lot of fun with Celebrini and Smith down the middle.

stfu with this crap.

they could fn carless if cam is fn bought it when it comes to their own bank account. they have a 30 second conversation about it that has zero nada no bearing on if any player will stay or go.

rangers gonna have a hard time getting players i bet.

Buying him out was bad for the team then? They clear cap space and open a roster spot. Why couldn’t it just a beneficial move for both sides?

That $1.7M is not inconsequential, especially if they re-up TK.

Foerster, Cates, Frost and York all need to be re-upped next summer. If any one of them were to break out the Flyers would already have been struggling to squeeze them all in. Now they've made it even tighter, just so Cam can be happy.

Not to mention the UFA class of 2026 includes dudes like Drai, Rants, Marner, Bouchard, Boeser, Chychrun, Buchnevich, Ehlers, etc. Can't compete for any of those potential difference makers if you have a bunch of avoidable dead cap space.

1.7 for an extra year is not small in comparison lol.

The move makes no logical sense. And makes even less sense that it’s a franchise that’s nearly capped out every year.

He could sent down to the Phantoms and it wouldn’t matter one bit if he was disgruntled. He could bond with RyJo over it lol

Look, I think we're all smart enough to realize fossil fuel's days are numbered. But we didn't have to go cold Turkey, wasn't necessary. There have been dozens of U.S. companies working on renewable energy products, alternate fuels, Green gas recycling for years, dating back to the Obama admin. All we had to do is let them do their thing. And they were doing it. Even Exxon is working on a way to recycle Carbon. Farms are already recycling cow waste etc. There was no need for a hard cut over. Allowing time to do the transition would go a long way for Electric suppliers to increase the capacity of our grids. We have to be able to sustain the rapid increase of power demands for EVs.

What the Flyers did was dumb. They are under no obligation to do right by the player. They don't need the cap space this year. Keeping him in a limited role would not be bad for the team and who cares if he is disgruntled. If he wants out, he could get out.

They also have a bunch of cap space coming open next offseason and then Hayes and Cam’s buyouts off the books the following offseason. I’m not losing sleep over this.

frost

RP

TK
Joel
The forest
Tippet
Brink
GH
ND
Cates
Ollie?

so what spot does it open up? cleaning up the mess would be letting it ride out.
