in no order:

frost
Selke winner
laughton
RP

TK
Joel
The forest
Tippet
Brink
GH
ND
Cates
Ollie?

so what spot does it open up? cleaning up the mess would be letting it ride out.

- hello it's me 2050

You now don’t have to slot him in ever. Ideally scratch ND, Ollie stays in the minors and play the likes of brink Foerster and MM a tonne. I also hope Danny trades Laughton and maybe TK.

It's a large number, but still a number. I think we all know oil is needed for the short - medium term until renewables stabilize.

Right thing for Cam, wrong thing for the team.

Who is DB working for? The Flyers or Cam?

- Tomahawk

The buyout just freed up around 3.5 mill, bringing available funds up to about 4.3mill. 6-800,000 is not a lot to work with this time of the year to improve your club. Still have to strike a deal with mm. Wasn't what we all wanted, but seems to be necessary.

I haven’t seen a lot from him so far. But he could be called up. I may be wrong to want this but I’m hoping big minutes for the young guys. Don’t care about results at all. ND cote suite eating popcorn

Might have turned out differently if mm hadn't arrived 2 years early. But 600,000 wasn't going to be enough to pay him or take on any other salary for deals. Everyone wants a good deal to be made, but there's managing the cap.

It seems the Colorado deal has thrown a monkey wrench into the situation. Money is going to be tied up there if they can't work something out. How long can Johansson be injured? Is he going to ride the injury through the entire year+ ? These deals have snags.

- BluehorseShoe64

The Flyers had plenty of cap space to work with having the ability to use LTIR.

players observe, talk and compare. If the Flyers want to attact good players and also resign their own good players, its these types of move that help make that happen. Keeping Cam on the team in a limited role would be detrimmental to the team and to Cam, who obviously wants to keep playing.

Actually I was surprised there was even interest in Cam and that he refused the trade. Playing on San Jose next season is going to be a lot of fun with Celebrini and Smith down the middle.

It would have zero effect on the future and being able to attract good players. What happened to having to earn your spot on the team. If Atkinson wants to keep playing. Earn the ice time.

I think the Flyers did the right thing in buying out Cam. I don't like that more dead money is on the cap this year and next, but the Flyers did the right thing to get a little cap space this year and also do right by the player. Keeping Cam on the team and not playing him or playing him in a limited role would be bad for the team and just create a disgruntled player. The Flyers tried to trade Cam and he would not accept a trade, so I don't think the Flyers have much choice.

As far as TK goes, if the Flyers do not extend him this off season, I think that would mean the two sides are far apart on an extension and the Flyers will trade TK at the deadline next year, which I think would be the best time to trade him.

- jd250

So they owe him nothing...they tried to let him continue elsewhere and he refused to go.

Put him on waivers, let SJ take him if they still want him. Noone else did apparently.

This is just a waste of cap space next year. They owed him nothing.

What’s MM cap hit as a top 10 pick? Isn’t it like 1.25 mil including bonuses for the 3 yr ELC? I’d check cap friendly but the (frank)ing capitals bought it and I don’t trust it anymore haha

Did SJ even really want him? They probably just wanted whatever asset DB was dangling to get them to eat the cap hit.

His cap hit will probably be 950K. His AAV will be higher. They'll be using the bonus cushion.

The left doesn't have a base? That has been the root cause of inflation...the green deal was pushed for the base. The executive order to stop drilling for oil put us back in the position to buy oil from Valenzuela and Russia. And how was that a good thing? Besides the fact that they aren't allies of ours, pricing was not optimal. When we had domestic oil we were able to keep fuel costs down. Economics 101: Significantly raise the cost of fuel, which our trucks use to transport goods and food, and you have inflation. Not a good policy when the Fed was already printing money like no tomorrow. Delicate thing the U.S. economy is.
- BluehorseShoe64

https://www.politifact.co...-there-are-9000-unused-o/

Just stop. This isn't the 1970s. The US produces more oil now than they did during Trump's presidency and there are 1000's of unused oil leases.

The reason the US still imports oil :

https://www.politico.com/...idates-dont-care-00154959

That’s in part because the oil the U.S. produces isn’t the oil the country’s infrastructure prefers. The nation’s refineries were largely built before the U.S. fracking boom and are designed to process heavier crude oil typically found in Russia and the Middle East. The lighter stuff found in the U.S. is often cheaper to export.

And even if a country produces more than it consumes, oil is part of a global market. That means the fuel will still be exposed to international supply and demand disruptions that affect global prices, said Harrison Fell at North Carolina State University.

Economics 101 my ass. The only thing that affected US drilling was when crude dropped to unprofitable prices during COVID putting the highly leveraged newer oil operations out of business.
