I find it kind of funny that people keep saying that the Hawks got Mikheyev so that projected rookies would have an interpreter. Hasn't everyone raved about both of them being fluent in English?
I'm sticking to my original prediction, AA's getting moved within the next week or two.
Hawks will sign A. Carrier, Joshua, and TT - Chunk
I'd take that. Now git er' done Chunk...err KFC! |

I think the only other one that has a chance is DiPietro if you adjust for inflation. |

KD is asleep at the wheel. Lafferty remains unsigned and the Hawks are about to lose their newly acquired forward. |

Guessing 2 years at 1.8ish will get it done for Lafferty? |

$1.8 (ish) million would be great. Assuming the Hawks eventually trade him he would become an even better target at 50% retained.
I’m not sure if the term. 2 year makes sense but I could see KD going with 3 years. |

If I was Lafferty, might as well wait until FA, I am sure he would have more than one team that would bid on his services, unless like you say KD overpays.

Lafferty is a Coach LR move, they’ll get him signed. Guy fit LR style to a T. I really hope we don’t see anything about Tinordi, Megna, Sanford, either Johnson. Below replacement level players. |

2 x 2.25M. They could use the 700K Van retained on Mikahev to add onto Lafferty's contract. |

KD has to make sure anyone except the elite players have contracts that can be moved if needed. I’m not suggesting Lafferty’s value but KD has to factor that into the contract he offers. |

The college student defenseman does, the guy with SKA st. petersburg farm team has an interpreter and is learning phrases, comprehension.

Agree, but if I am Lafferty, why sign for the same amount with the Hawks knowing I will probably be moved at the TDL, and sign with a playoff contender that I know I have a better chance of being with the whole season?

I looked through Mikheyev's game log from this past season. He scored 10 goals in the first 28 games, and only one more the rest of the way, that one happening in March. What was going on there? |

Kyle is driving through busy Vegas streets now, not doing pre-ufa day signings, all he needs is to see what Sam says now, and use the info as he parks the car and looks for deals on the draft floor for contracted players. |

Not sure what else besides Rick Tocchett demand for him to play 200 feet.
I dodged another bullet today on my 7 round mock, as I thought Boston traded Ullmark for Ottawa's pick at #7 as i was busy elsewhere and didn't realize Boston was just getting back their original pick at 25.
As the draft roller coaster slowly climbs to the opening hill drop, we are now in the territory when teams will decide whetehr they announce deals today/tonight/tomorrow pre-start or wait until they have the larger Tv crowd to announce player trades and slot switches. |

I think they reward him with a 3 year deal. They have plenty of picks for now. He makes the bottom 6 much better, and i can see him and Slaggert maybe throw in AA as a very hard line to play against.
I think we need another bottom 6 player for the D!ckinson, Donato, Foligno line. |

My thought is the Hawks were allowed to talk to Lafferty’s agent before the trade. I think the Hawks might give more dollars and more term than most other teams. I would be surprised if the Hawks don’t finalize a deal with Lafferty.

I also love the move of getting a 2027 2nd rounder, he gets a pick that he can trade to aquire a player in the future when the Blackhawks are a much better team. He seems to have a plan in place. The bonus is if Ilya works out as a middle six forward. |

Can they do that? I thought you can't talk to pending UFA's until after the draft.

And there’s the trap most GMs get caught in. Mikheyev was signed to one of those “reward him” deals, look at the mess that caused Vancouver. Lots of players are handed those reward him deals and then GMs get stuck with them or pay dearly to move them. What exactly is Lafferty being rewarded for? His reward is to receive salary and term commensurate with his value and ability. Whatever Lafferty’s value to the team is, factoring KD’s ability to move him if need be, is what he should be paid. If he walks, he walks, it’s better for the team than overpaying him. KD has already given larger salaries to entice free agents, I get why but now in this phase of the rebuild he has to be more economically prudent. All that said I hope he can sign Lafferty, I like his game and what he brings to the team.

KD already knows who he's dealing with that's why he wanted him in the trade. I think this helps the PK as well. As i recall Lafferty and D!ckinson were a very good pairing before he was traded. |

I think that's why you wont see the Blackhawks sign a 30 year old FA for 7 years and a ton of money.
