I would wager Levshunov will leave MSU and sign his ELC this summer. May not make the team and will probably spend most of the year at the Rock.
- boilermaker100

I agree but think the Hawks leave it up to him. If he really feels good at MI State they'll let him go back. But I think the kid is only at school for hockey and will go pro. If so, depending on his camp he breaks with the Hawks until he gets overwhelmed then off to RKF.

But, the development of Levshunov is paramount. No need to rush him and I don't think they will.

He's poised, good skater with multiple gears, good off the puck, very good size and popped 36 in a defensive minded USHL. .. Kid checks a lotta boxes but man, with Eiserman on the board?
- Mr Ricochet

They got a RHD and a Center, two of the hardest positions to fill. On to tomorrow and Monday.

Charlie Elick could be a good pick there.

You think they go back to D? I'm leaning forward.

The way i hear it, he hates college so don't be surprised if he signs his ELC and is playing 3rd pairing minutes for the Blackhawks

KD building on back end and up the middle. Kid can score goals even if he ends up being a winger.
- bhawks2241

Boisvert has the size, skating and hunger to play center. I think he plays center in the NHL but we're a long way from that day.

He also likes to ride his bike to his dad's gym and box. So it looks like he might be a future face puncher as well.

Really hoping greentree falls albeit unlikely, but that would make a great draft for the hawks with the first 3 picks

Thinking they might still be just BPA for round 2.

Who at forward - Basha could be good, maybe Hemming or Gridin?

What are your thoughts on Emil Hemming?

I would love to see some defenders go late in the first so he is there in 2nd.

Yep, the most important positions to draft in round 1, harder to find top end D and C. Honestly, I don't think we should be disappointed, they didn't reach for anyone.

I said this a few days ago, some players eval fate is tied to, “is he a top six centre? Because if he isn’t, he has got to be able to be a bottom six center this kid at this point is not going to be a bottom sex center you look for a different player if that is the outcome he needs other tools which he has an exhibited to play on to play on the bottom end of your roster Maybe the hawks think this kid is a left winger after North Dakota…

Yep, and I'm ok with it and expected them to go Boisvert at 18 and Lev at 2. He, both kids, fits what KD likes. ....... What's the old saying, there are two types of NHL teams. Those who have centerman and those looking for one. Same can be said for top 4 RS Dmen with size that can skate.

Don’t hate the choice but think there were better options on the board.
- Revco38

Overall I am satisfied but like you I feel KD could have drafted differently and made a trade to move up

Much as I pushed for S Jones for 6th overall, both teams involved needed to not make a trade Blackhawk defense needs Jones - warts included - and Utah should not trade a good prospect available at 6th for a second pair dman

Let us keep in mind two things about our first round picks:

Leshunov projects as a possible first pair RHD. Provides offensive game and will hit. Great since he skates well too. Looking forward to his improving upon his negative scouting report issues - which can be improved. Meanwhile you never know if Deminov has injury issues down the road. I was willing to roll dice on him but KD made the correct call. Deminov goes down with major injury first or second year here and everyone second guessed his pick. Either player choosen KD is second guessed.

I know this (and applies to our second first round choice too): a few years later a redraft will be very interesting with this class

As for Boisvert, correct me if I am wrong BUt do we need a center prospect more than a wing (Eiserman). Since Moore may wind up on wing and hadn’t broke out scoring big time (but shall likely have a pretty good season scoring ahead of him) and Greene + Nazar are good but not great prospects, taking a center was logical. I like Hayes on wing and we shall see whom else winds up on wing. We do have interesting prospects in Lardis and Ludwinski but they aren’t coming soon if they even do work out. So while I would have been pleased with Eiserman, don’t think KD didn’t consider him and his shot/goal scoring credentials. But center was a big need. Beside all that, is Bedard going to play some wing and center - maybe?

I think my greatest disappointment was that there was no trade that could be made for another first round selection. I liked Silayev most then Yaremchuk and Eiserman

Also that Russian we drafted in ‘23 draft had a good season and perhaps he comes over - later

Someone should take him for a tour of Rockford before he makes his mind up.

Why can't Boisvert play 3C in the Bigs? He has the size and hunger to do so. He's not a fancy perimeter player. He can skate......... I see it as you draft a kid outside the top 15 and chances are you're getting a 3rd liner, and that's ok. But, you draft the kid who shows traits that can develop into a top 6 guy and that's why I thought they'd draft him over the Hages and Nygards.

Barring injury on D, I see him starting in the A. You still are young with KK, Vlasic and Kaiser. I can’t see LR going Kaiser/Levy on third pair..

Lev can skate and granted the college schedule is light, but they may want to do another kk and keep him here.

Nygard had already been gotten but like you point out, 3C is pretty valuable and if he develops to 2C...gravy.

He’s a prospect he may take a year to get into the NHL or three years he may be a center or winger a first or fourth line player or he may never make it. Davidson and staff have done their due diligence they obviously think he’s the 18th best player in this draft.

Possibly, he has a high ceiling low floor currently imo. He has a lot to improve on. V bummed we didn’t get Eiserman at 18. Montreal has their top line in the making with their first two picks for the next decade
