A total of 18 picks in the first 3 rounds the past 3 years (with one more to come today).
13 North Americans
2 Czechs
1 Slovak
1 Russian
1 Belarussian
14 forwards
3 defensemen (all in the 1st round)
1 goalie - boilermaker100 as much as I didn't like the last two picks we all as fans have to trust the process and Davidson and company they know more than we do. It was a solid 1st address things Hawks need and were lacking let's be patient and ser where this goes season to season go Davidson and company and go Blackhawks.

Why didn’t you like the last two picks? Why shouldn’t KD have drafted Boisvert and Vanacker? |

Wanted Hage imo would be the second line center in the future for the Hawks, seems like boisvert is more on the third line center but could possibly become a second line center. Vanacker i though was a reach. But like I said before Davidson and company knows more than I do. |

Vanacker playing (effectively no less) with a torn labrum ? No need to interview him to know his grit and determination. Looks like without the injury he projected to be picked where the Hawks picked him.
As far as Boisvert at 18? Some hated ( or still do) KK at 7. Will be 3-4 years minimum to see if it was the right pick. Consensus he was low 20’s so not a reach IMO. That is why the Hawks have scouts.
Now on to FA day. Hoping Hawks can pick up at least one top 6 and one middle 6 forwards snd a depth defenseman. |

I have to admit when Emily said Levshunov is more like a Pietrangelo it got me excited.
I don't know how anyone can say this is the safe pick or the wrong pick, top 4 dmen don't grow on trees especially top pairing ones. I saw/ heard a few scouting reports say his wrist shot is better than his slap shot? Will it be anywhere near Makar's?
For a team that couldn't draft a top 4 dman, I'm hoping KD is more right than wrong on these kids he's drafted in the 1st rounds.
I'll add, it'll be nice to have another dman who can skate or pass the puck out of the zone and isn't a little fella. |

Fingers crossed. While not being KFC's pick, Vlasic looks like a steal in the second round now.
If Lev, Korbustsky and Rinzel develop the way the Hawks envisioned could have a fun homegrown top 4 group of dmen. |

I didn't offer any opinion. I do find it an interesting and unusual occurrence. And, if some aspects are true, the woman was sleeping with an underaged child, which would make it criminal. I would hope most rational people would be against criminal sexual assault of a minor. |

Isn't it great though he was drafted by Utah. Happy endings do happen. |

I also always wonder when we traded with Carolina did we end up taking their guy. They figured yea this kid is projected to go early 2nd round we'll just trade back and still get our guy.

Yes. It'll be interesting how the Utah Hockey Club drafts in the future. |

Mike Doneghey on 18th pick Sacha Boisvert: "He plays on the edge, but he also had 36 goals in [the USHL]. If you look back at the Kyle Connors and the Brock Boesers and those guys, those are similar numbers to what he had."
Connor went 17th in 2014 and Boeser went 23rd in 2015. That would obviously be a home run if he turns out like them.

One of the analysts on ESPN likened Boisvert to Malkin. That's sounds like a bit of reach, but nice to hear. Boisvert says he models and compares his own game to Kopitar.
As for Vanacker, I liked that smile on KD's face when he made the selection. He and the staff must really be happy to get him. Vanacker, BTW, had shoulder surgery earlier in June and will miss the first few months of next season. |

They do seem to stay kind of close to home with their high picks. Bedard and Korchinski were from WHL, and Felcman and Kantserov were still in Europe, but the rest were fairly close to CHI. Only the late round picks are from Scandinavia.
Korchinski, Bedard - WHL
Felcman - Czechia
Kantserov - Russia
2022
Nazar - Michigan, Rinzel - Minnesota. Greene - Boston U, Thompson - Denver
Ludwinski - OHL, Hayes - OHL, Savoie - QMJHL
2023
Moore - Minnesota, Gajan - USHL, UMD
Misiak - USHL, OHL, Lardis - OHL, Pharand - OHL, Marcel - OHL
2024
Levshunov - Michigan St., Boisvert - USHL, North Dakota
Vanacker - OHL
I'm assuming this is more of just habit than lack of worldwide scouting, and it shouldn't necessarily affect the success of the team. Kind of surprised that Scandinavia doesn't show up more in the list.

Hahaha, giving me homework Wiz
1Bedard, 2Levshunov, 7Korchinski, 13Nazar, 18Boisvert,19 Moore, 25 Rinzel, 27Vanacker, 35 Gajan 39 Ludwinski, 44 Kansterov
That trade with the Bolts might turn into something really good.
I'm still thinking (frank)ing Blues. - BetweenTheDots

Firstly, Thank you Dots, b/c I was testing my memory looking at the numbers and as my memory failed, failed to see names ??? for ??? 18, 35, 39...? and i knew if asked in that was a nice way, tha you would, being a nice guy, do the work for "our" assignment.

Last year, Kyle aided Philly, with our 2nd rd, 51 pick so they could get the next goalie after they selected Gajan.
So it was the last Hagel trade pick Tampa pick, the Vancouver from the Jason Richarderson trade & that Philly late return 2024 2nd rd. pick the ’hawks got when they traded Philly #51 2023 so Philly could choose the 2023 goalie Carson Bjarnason with the pick The NY Isles trade that leapfrogged the Lightning pick up two.
I still think there is irony that the Isle got Eiserman with that Lightning pick… |

Supposedly Minnesota was going to trade their 13th pick to Winnipeg for McGroarty, but withdrew the offer and traded up to 12 when Buium was available. |

Probably mostly true, but I'm assuming he wasn't trying to get to #4 to draft Boisvert

Now they will use their picks to get some 3rd round drop offs with long term promise and we can see if anything interesting flashes before them.
Will Bedard's old linemate, Tanner Howe, still be there? Max Plante? a goalie?
Can they get a reserve RD they can groom"
See you all when we get to #67 and #72, unless they trade up?
The golaie run starts in the third.

Spoke to Levshunov in the concourse after the draft. Big guy. Big smile. Big personality. Asked him where he thought he would play next year. "Anywhere they tell me to," he said. |

Probably right but i just don't buy the 1st round pick was unprotected. That would be a bad business decision.
Lots of talk but ultimately no one was willing to give up a premium pick for a disgruntled employee.
I would love to see the Blackhawks draft board. |

Luck of the draw we were in section 109 last night night, stage left, where the players went for interviews and team pictures. There was a couch 10 feet in front of us where Leah Hextall was interviewing the players and their parents after they were picked. When the Eisermans sat down I said to them, "Every team in the league is going to regret passing on you." They smiled and waved. We ran into them later. the kid is amazing and the parents asked if I was the guy who yelled to them on the couch. "Yeah I wanted him for the Hawks." The dad said, "We thought it was great and I told my wife I wanted to give you a hug for saying that to us." He opened his arms and hugged me. Then 3 girls in dresses that looked like black tube socks asked it they could take a picture with him. He has a big smile. "Have to go to the after party. Thanks again." They took off. |

Yea i was hoping they would draft Eiserman, but KD is sticking with his guns, he wants guys who compete all over the ice. Every pick sounds like they can skate and they have the compete gene in their blood. |
