Im curious what the contract looks like.

My guess is 8 for 8 mil per which is what he wanted from Carolina. But given the lack of state tax in Florida, he could go seven mil per season and be close to what he wanted from the Canes.

Stamkos and Sergachev out, Guentzel in

It was reported that Stamkos called McD and told him to comeback, I think Stammer will resign.

Can they sign him for 8 years? I thought thats only if you extend with the existing team? Or does trading the signing rights to Guentzel kinda make it like hes a rostered player with Tampa so it makes him eligible for the 8?

So Carolina losing Pesce, Guentzel and maybe Necas? That's cool with me

Gotta think this makes Stamkos more available. Much rather him over Kane if its between the two

North Carolina has an income tax rate of 4.5 percent so thats about 360k difference than Fla where there is no State income tax.

Stamkos will cost a lot more than Kane, Younger and put up over a PPG last season, probably looking for a 4 or 5 year deal with an AAV of 6-7

Excatly so if the Canes offered 8.5 and Tampa 8, there isnt much difference so it comes to where he wants to play.

Are they really aging? Out side of Stamkos, Hedman and Kucherov, who are still playing at an elite level, most of the squad is in their prime, under 30.
- aecliptic

Vasilevsky clearly on the decline. Hedman. McD. Stamkos if he's back.

They also just traded probably their number 1 dman in sergachev.

And they've had their run of 3 straight finals, so I'm pretty confident that they are past their prime. Not saying they can't make another run to the final 4 here in the next few years, but they're less hungry and primed than Carolina for a cup.

Honestly I think this is more about Stamkos wanting ownership to prove to him that the team is still trying to win and compete for the Cup. I think bringing in Guentzel would get Stamkos to stay in Tampa for a slight discount.

Vasilevsky will be 30 next month, he will have a full summer to heal. I think you are under estimating this team.

Capfriendly says he’s only eligible for 7 years because the player has to have been on the team as of the most recent trade deadline

Thats per year. $2.88 mill over the life of a contract. This really needs to be addressed in the next CBA, because its simply an imbalance that shouldn't exist.

All I'm saying is I'm slightly less annoyed he's on Tampa now than if he had re-signed with Carolina. Still sucks, and yes Tampa probably has better cup chances than us because their stars have the jam that ours don't.

Can’t see Stamkos staying with them especially now. That blue line is aging and with Sergachev leaving doesn’t help. They will need to upgrade that blueline IMO.

I think people arent giving JJ Moser enough respect. He's a pretty good defenseman on a bad Coyotes team. I think he can take a step forward playing in Tampa.

Don't think they can do more than 7 years since he spent no actual time with Tampa. There's a date cutoff I believe.

This has always been what I thought. 7 years unless you were on the team before the deadline.

Getting on the record

1-Trading Trouba is a mistake and much more so if we retain any amount. There’s no way to replace what he brings especially if we retain 2.5 million

2- Let igor go if he wants north of 9.5m. Not good money allocation imo
