So we should focus on realistic ideas like trading for the fourth overall pick so we can draft Iginla.
= Tojoquippa

That’s what I thought too! Haha

Now, in fairness, Iginla has been slotted anywhere from 4th to 12th in mock drafts. I still think he'll be selected by Calgary.

Where do you think he’ll be selected?

I’m just having some fun here.

You claimed: *I honestly feel trading Jarry is the best, safest long-term decision.* Yet, didn’t put up a with who.

You also claimed in the same posting: *People tend to forget all the times he is on and wins them games* then you flip-flopped on it again (same post). Indicating the PEN’s objective is to just make the playoffs.

Possibly you enjoyed those 1st exits. Me, on the other hand, don’t see much difference in 1st round exits and missing the playoffs on the last game of the season.

Sometimes, it’s really hard to tell in a post whether the author is stupid, or just pretending to be stupid. Me, I hope I’m pretending.

Utah is interesting. I can see them making the most moves to go all in for a legitimate playoff push. I wonder if they’d take Graves as an add on with Jarry for a mid round pick

That's not flip flopping. I'm on the fence about trading Jarry so I listed some pros and cons.

Saying you're sick of the Pens direction is fine. My criticism of you has always been you're trying to force everyone to accept a very unrealistic trade. Yes you made a great trade for the Pens. But Columbus laughs at that. We have literally nothing that anybody would trade a top five pick for.

Now if this is you admitting you know it's a bad proposal but think it's funny to keep posting it then whatever. I've just been assuming you have no idea what trade values are.

They are definitely the most interesting to watch given they have to fill out half of their roster and have all the cap space in the world to do it. I think they are probably feeling pretty good about Ingram as their starter, but Vejmelka sucks so maybe they'd have interest in Jarry.

But Utah has all 3 1sts, 10 2nds and 7 3rds in the next 3 drafts. I can't imagine them wanting picks to eat a contract like Graves, even if they currently have zero D under contract. So maybe Jarry for picks, they'd probably be interested in POJ too. I'd love to land Crouse to slot in as Sids LW but just dont see that happening.

I think Utah is going to go for Lindholm, Zadorov, and one of Guentzel or Stamkos in free agency. They could take a shot at Roy too.

We are clearly waiting for Marner to get actively shopped.

Elliotte Friedman said on Pat McAfee (at least that show covers the NHL on ESPN) that Jake and Carolina are close to an 8x8 contract. It isnt done, but Carolina told Jake they'd be willing to do that.

Tampa and Vancouver were the two teams more interested in him if he hits FA.

Calgary seems to be in full tear down mode. Kadri, Huberdeau, Kuzmenko, etc. all available. What would everyone's thoughts be on Kadri for Jarry?

Not a terrible top 6, I dunno.

TIOPS are saying Buffalo has called about Lars Eller. I don't have a subscription, but apparently we also had trade talks with Seattle and Columbus

Hearing Harkins is willing to take a 2 way deal to stay with the Pens. Multiple teams have made offers though.

I heard Jeff Carter may come out of retirement. But only if he can play with McDavid in Edmonton.

What a duo! Jeff would drag Mcdavid down between the dots and not make him rely on assists to win runners up awards!

Out Karlson and Malkin. In, Stamkos, Kadri, Lomberg and 100 other players because Karlson makes so much damn money.

I don't think the guy working at the Shanksville beer distributor is a reliable source for NHL news.

Kind of wondering why Guentzel wasn’t given that contract immediately. Then there’s no need for a Laine, Huberdeau, or whatever other rumors there are.

Did Guentzel not want to sign, or did Dubas really not try? I like Bunting, but still could had pried him from Carolina for essentially nothing as he’d be a cap dump

It sounded like Dubas is very conscious about the age of the team and didn’t want to lock up another over thirty long term. I think it was the wrong decision but that’s what happened.

I guess you can take a gamble on Laine, but it will be a gamble. Can you get 30-40 goals out of him like Guentzel would be good for?

People talking were making it seem like Guentzel was getting a $9.5 mil/year contract. Just seems like if Dubas wanted to stay competitive for the next few years, an 8x8 deal would have been a no brainer.

Sounded like Dubas doesnt want to give out 6-8 year deals to guys his age. Dubas even said today that he's unlikely to give anyone a long term contract in free agency.

That kinda tells me they dont plan to just blow it up after Crosby/Malkin/Letang retire. Seems like they will do more of a retool on the fly, which can go really right or really wrong.

I love the NHL draft. Its a unique format and its cool in Las Vegas this year. Should be here every year. Shame they are de-centralizing it starting next year.

Having said that, ESPN's coverage sucks. Would be a lot better with the TNT crew.
