I would be thrilled with Helenius. Outside of Celebrini, Lindstrom and Demidov, he is my top forward.
If there is truth to the attempt to move to 4th, it’s got to be for Lindstrom, right? |

Like the Surin pick. I also think teams will regret passing on Hage. He had a monster end to the season, 27 points in his last 14 games. Missed most of the prior year with injury so started slow, but showed consistent and fairly rapid progress over the course of the season. |

The one good thing about buying out Cam is that it signals they know next 2 years are a punt. This will be a 3+ year process. Silver lining, I hope, they seem to get that. |

They aren’t thinking that way. |

So you save money this year. If they don’t use that space it could be used at the deadline to take on a bad contract or retain to get a pick/prospect. Not great immediately, let’s see how the rest of the off season goes. |

From Ek
“Still holding the 12th and 32nd overall picks of the first round, Philadelphia has actively been trying to move up tonight. They've talked about picks 4, 6, 7, and 11 and different stages. So far they've been unable to do so. Hearing they've run into ridiculously inflated -- even downright extortionate -- asking prices.”
Again, only way to acquire elite talent is to finish low enough in the standings to draft those players. Trying to trade or sign them via UFA is a fools errand.

I love what Briere is trying to do in moving up in this draft. That is what rebuilding teams do to try to obtain elite talent. Briere should hold his ground however and not give in to ridiculous demands. If the Flyers cannot move up this year, they can still get a good player at 12 and use assets to trade up from 32 if they like a player that is still on the board. Just remain patient is my advice. Next year's draft is going to be better and deeper. The Flyers should perhaps consider trading veteran players from the core now and take a significant step back in the standings in order to secure a higher pick next year. |

Maybe I am dumb but if your telling me the cost for for is this:
To CLB: 12th, Farabee or Frost, COL 2025 1st
To PHL: 4th
I am doing it. If Lindstrom is your guy then have at it. Get your guy.
You still can try to move Laughton, Konecny and really anyone but Michkov to try and recoup assets.
But get your guy if that is your target. |

With those asking prices, DB should absolutely stand pat and not move up at all costs. Maybe Frost, their 12th, and a 2nd rounder next year for #4 but outside of that, there is no one in this draft other than MC that is worth trading the number of 1sts they have in this and the next draft. That would be cutting their nose off to spite their face and keep them in mediocrity forever. |

Give up 2 firsts for a "rebuilding" team is tough

It’s probably the exact opposite as they look to extend Konecny.
I’ve seen him enough Comcast approved Flyers GMs to know they're idiots until proven otherwise |

The price they’re talking about is 12, 32 and Colorado’s 1st next year.
For me that’s a no brainer. You still have your own first next year and you can regain some draft capital by moving Laughton (and a ton more by moving Konecny if they’re smart) |

Probably why they passed on Zito in 2019. He's not a corporate yes-man.

Colorado first is 23+. What is the difference between top 5 this year and 12. If it’s a potential elite player in that top 5 you do it. Farabee and frost are nothing in the grand scheme of things. Especially Farabee: you can find a winger. |

That’s absolutely why. Why else would you appoint two guys with no experience to the two most important positions of a major franchise with fans already completely fed up.
As much as I want the Flyers to succeed the one constant with all this failure is Comcast’s terrible hockey decisions and I don’t think the failure will be solved until they’re gone.
Would love to see Comcast sell the majority stake to Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney. Reynolds was rumored to be looking at a NHL team and obviously Rob has the Philly connection. |

It’s not, it’s 12, Farabee, 32, and the Flyers unprotected ‘25 1st. The Flyers 1st next year should be a non-starter. |

Di Marco says they’re still trying to trade into the top 10, with any team. But they may explore a trade back if unsuccessful. Which tells me they think the player available to them at 12 will be just as good as the player they’d get a few picks back. So the top 10 is their threshold. |
