Buium could be the Heiskanen in this draft. A puzzling move but not surprising from the three stooges

Total poopshow today. This franchise is an embarrassment.

And good 2nds too....Flyers, Anaheim and Columbus (if they take this years pick).

The moves suggest the Flyers want to build with next years draft, but time will tell if they contradict themselves by re-signing TK and trading for more depth.

They could have done all of that and had Buium too. Even the best 1D takes 2-3 years to develop. With these other moves they’d have been able to be in a position to take Hagans or McKenna over the next 2 drafts and have them come in right when Buium was coming in. It’s just horrible. Now we have to wait at least 1 more year for them to find their 1D when next year doesn’t have many top D. So then it’s another year. And until that 1D is found they’ll constantly be 3-4 years away.

I don’t disagree. Passing on Buium was a massive massive mistake. You can’t get elite talent if you won’t draft him.

Even that is dumb as fuq. Buffalo moved from 11 to 14 and got pick 42 I believe.

If you are dumb enough to pass on Zeev Jett must’ve been their target they figured would be there. Which is a massive reach at 12 or 13. With all the call made and teams moving up last day or so if Jett is your guy you gotta know it’s kinda reach and maximize the trade down. A 3rd is extremely underwhelming. Like I said look what Buffalo got.

Funny thing is they kicked the can even further down the road tonight by taking a long term project and trading for futures so resigning TK makes even less sense now.

I hate to rant so much but what makes it horrible for me is living in Buffalo I get poop all the time while Buffalo yes is a joke at least they know it. Their expectation really isn’t as high. So of course my phone is blowing up laughing at them passing on Zeev and reaching for Jett. Just laughingstock beyond comprehension at this point

Disappointing draft day for sure. Not seeing a bright future with Briere at the helm as of tonight…some ok moves, a disaster losing Quitter. Acquired some draft capital but that was more with taking on horrid contracts….doesn’t seem able to consummate an actual hockey trade….that’s a bit of a problem when you’re rebuilding. Reaching at 13 doesn’t inspire much confidence to change my mind.

Provorov was a culture trade, Hayes was a culture trade, DeAngelo was a culture move, Walker wasn’t going to fit under the cap. Seeler was a culture move, EJ was a culture move, Poehling was a culture move, not trading Laughton was a culture move, drafting Luchenko was a culture move, buying out Atkinson was a culture move, resigning TK is going to be about the culture. At what f-ing point do you have enough culture!

Oh I know for sure. Fell right in their lap. What luck. First mm now Zeev. Could’ve been great story. Even with that fuq up it’s still among salvagable if they move to laughts. But the time is one step closer to running out.

Based on what little I know about who we drafted and the moves made tonight, tonight from my standpoint was a dud. Now, at the moment I have no reason to believe that Jett Luchanko is going to be average to bad. Many looked at Steve Yzerman sideways when he drafted Moritz Seider who was projected to be taken later in his draft class. What I will say is, if you’re going to make moves like trading back 1 spot to draft a player, you better be sure there is a “wow” factor. Briere claims his scouts have done the work, so when guys in here get upset that Jett Luchanko was projected to go much lower in a few mock drafts, that carries zero weight. With this said, the best point made tonight that I read was the handling of the 32nd overall pick. That’s the pick we got for Giroux. Briere making us wait all night and not even using it after two years of waiting spits in the fans’ face to a degree. Maybe Danny B doesn’t like this draft but it’s hard to argue that he improved us in anyway tonight.

And they still got Helenius. Briere was caught with his pants down. He failed to move up and didn’t have a backup plan. And all the other GMs knew it. Guerin probably gave him the 3rd as pity on him.

It still doesn’t explain not taking Buium. Even if you don’t want Buium, you draft him and then look to trade him in the future. He’d offer more value that than Luchenko and a 3rd. Seriously, they could have used Buium and their first next year to try to get to 1st overall to get Hagans.
