Less would be good. Do you think Duclair is a good fit for the 1st line?
- ses111

His speed will be a very good compliment to Barzal, that's for sure. I like the addition. I'm just hoping it's a decent contract.

OK so now someone has to go. When Mayfield comes back , they are over the cap. Plus Holmstrom isn't signed. I guess CC and MM are done.

Mayfield's not on LTIR, he's on regular IR so he has no effect on whether or not they're over the cap.

Still right on the first part though. Probably two of Holmstrom/Wahlstrom/Iskhakov will be gone. If not all three.

Great signing by Lou.
Gives Roy options on the top six.
Barzal, Horvat and DuClair is interesting as is sticking him with Nelly and Palms. Definitely adds as far as the PP as well which we all know the Isles need to improve.

Barry adding in Nashville?

Cap going up this year which is a positive sign in terms of future cap increases.
It’s been years with the cap stuck without much movement.
Give the GMs money, they will spend!

My landscaper would have picked Eiserman. Being lucky to have this guy fall in your lap and making a shrewd pick are two totally different scenarios. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good

Love Roy bringing in assistants for his staff. Looking forward to what he can do having the team in training camp and having time to get the group in tune with his system fully.
Also I believe DuClair played for Roy in Jrs.
Have to thing Lou asked what he thought and gave the nod.

I think DuClair will give the first line a talented LW with speed which is something they were lacking. Duclair also helps the PP for sure, he can pass and shoot.

He has also played with JGP on PK when they were with the Sens. Options.

Is it me or does this year's off season have a little more of a positive vibe in Isles Country. I am not saying mark out the parade route but the moves that have been made are positives for a change.

Based on the roster only being at 20 with 3 spaces still available. The cap space at $1,062,500. I would assume at some point that Lou makes one or two trades.

Sorry, but I for one, am not positive. Yes I like some of the draft picks , but they are years away. I like Reilly on a one year deal. But, if you think Duclair is anything more than Another middle six forward, I think you are wrong. Team still needs a legit top line LW. Until they bring one of those in, I will not be happy or positive.

I don’t think the signing makes the isles cup contenders by any means. I do think it improves the club by 25 goals a season which means more wins.
The isles also have some addition by subtraction being that MM and Clutterbuck come off the books and will allow some young fresh legs to earn their spots…which equates to effort.

Honestly Lou had no choice to be careful with UFA this offseason. Islanders just do not have the Cap room. I like how Lou kept the draft picks and I like the Tommy hire. As of now, the Islanders are again a middle team that will fight for a spot.
