Yikes, he better produce like Miller, because that deal isn't going to age well in 3-4 years from now.
- DariusKnight

Why won’t it age well in 3-4 years?

I can't believe how happy I am with the Canucks moves today.
- Jkuzzi

Have to agree. After losing 4-5 pretty good players Allvin and JR are killing it. Excellent replacements and 'Tocchet' guys...

Sherwood is a great 4th liner. He was probably the most annoying predator in our series

Agreed really came into his own this season.

All the signings today have been solid. Really happy with the work Allvin and co are doing... what a nice change of pace from the Benning years to be excited about the signings on July 1st

CANUCKS PART FOUR

Vancouver Canucks
@Canucks
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenceman Derek Forbort on a 1-year contract worth $1.5M.

- NewYorkNuck

Nice add, if we can snag 1 of the unqualified RFA's then I think we've killed it

Very smart work. So many GMs (frank)ed up today and we got better without risk

I remember Sherwood being pretty good in that 1st round series against us.

Produce like Miller?? Never has, never will - shouldn’t be expected to - you’re setting yourself up for disappointment with those expectations.

$5.5 = 50-65pts - could be more depending heavily on where he finds chemistry either with Miller/Petey line

Also, age wise he’s close to the youngest UFA (28 in Oct) so he should be producing for at least 5 of the 7 yrs (34 when it ends) - WAY better than majority of contracts handed out where guys are 35-39

- Brooks_Light

I just look at the situation he was in, in Boston, where they wanted to trade him for almost 2 years and couldn't and now we're stuck with him for 7 years with a NMC... That's concerning, if he gets a major injury, that's another Miky situation we'll be facing. Again, you're probably right, and I'm buying trouble. I just don't like giving UFAs more than 2-4 year deals in case it turns out badly. That's what kind of bit us in the ass cap-wise in Benning's reign.

Debrusk - 5.5x7 age 27
Sherwood 2.5X2. 29
Heinen 2.5x2. 28
Forbort 1.5x1 32

With LTIR - approx - 3.7mil left
Leaves a little $$ for Silovs

He has a full NMC, if he doesn't live up to the contract, we're stuck holding the bag or having to buy him out. If he didn't have the NMC then I probably don't care as much.

Don't mind the deal but that's it. Shut er down unless you get a decent bottom pairing dman.

Derek Forbort is perfect nicely done. Hope term isn't brutal

- Jkuzzi

It’s 1 year for 1.5M. A Cole replacement for less. Just a filler for DPetey etc.

Funny Canucks added 3 Bruins for a lot less and Bruin paid big for Lindy and Z.

If I remember correctly, he wanted to be traded... sort of like the Garland situation. He wanted to play more, they didn't see him as that, then opportunities came up and he did better and everything was mended.

Yeah I heard a mix of things in Boston in terms of why he wanted out and why they didn’t trade him.
I’m sure he’s pumped to be outta there and have a chance to play with EP or JT - he’ll love Tocc. - and I’d rather give 5.5 instead of 8-9 mil - it’s way easier to deal with if - like you said - things go south.

Only thing I would’ve done differently is taken a chance on Olefson, Skinner or Arvidson at 4-5mil instead of Heinen/Sherwood combo - I think there’s more upside with taking a risk on a proven sniper. But term probably kiboshed those deals. We basically need to buy ourselves a year until Lekki steps up/in

Canucks are tougher to play against now. We’ll see if the scoring is there. But believe all the additions good playoff performers too.

Maybe Lakeramaki works his way onto team later in the season.
