What would you call getting swept and getting outscored 18-9 in the process? A competitive series? - bmeltzer

The only question I am asking myself when July 1st rolls around...
"Did the Flyers become a better team for the future?"
"Is the future 2075?" |

Luchanko also scored very high at the Columbine. (#1 in Left and Right hand Strength) I think he was in the top 4 in 5 catagories. He seems like he has a high motor and is dedicated. Reminds me a bit of a Brind'amour with speed. Everyone is developing and the Flyers might have caught a fast riser before his ceiling is hit. I agree that we need to wait and see on this one. But at least if Danny did reach on this pick, he had the sense to pick up some extra assets as he moved down. - flylerid
maybe he can arm wrestle?
love to see some stats that show the top combine performance testing results and how it applies to who did what in the nhl |

If the strategy is to get as many assets as possible for 2025 to grab an elite franchise player then yes that seems to be the case, but....
If the Flyers re-sign TK and feel they can make the playoffs next year that strategy just got flushed in the toilet.
I swear the Flyers play this game on purpose, make a move that shows one thing then counteract it with another to make it null & void then continue the cycle to milk the fanbase. |

Kevin Hayes traded to the Pens. This is not a drill. - Trox88
And the Pens just got Tanner Howe, he should be annoying to play against. Great!

People on here complain about the team trying to go for it, then they make moves for 3-5 years out and you complain? This team is nowhere near contending, why is the timeline now an issue? |

1) Saying there were more exciting options they weren't able to take happen (which is the truth) and that I liked 1-2 existing options better is a funny form of "propaganda".
2) Saying that I'm not going to rush to judge and understanding how unpredictable drafting and developing is also TRUTH.
3) Another truth: You're on my last nerve. I detest knee-jerk morons who only read into something what they want to read into it. Have no time or patience for such people. Unfortunately, we don't have an "ignore" feature here. - bmeltzer
Sorry I struck a nerve, but you just keep on defending this joke of a franchise. As someone who is quite a bit older than you and has followed the Flyers since the early 70s, I find the current management team to be woefully lacking. Also no one with a shred of objectivity can defend the performance of the Flyers organization over the last decade.
Finally, if you want to sink to name calling, have at it. It only shows your lack of class. |

I'm just surprised the Bolts would move Sergachev to sign Stamkos, possibly. Kind of figured they would try and trade for an LTIR contract to replace the Seabrook contract. They got weaker on the blueline in "win now" mode. Interesting moves. |

We don't know how drafting Jett will work out, but fingers crossed. I do like trading the 32nd pick to the Oilers for next years 1st round pick. There was nobody that stood out at #32. Next years draft is supposed to be stronger, so even if the Oilers win the cup and the Flyers get the 32nd pick again, there should be better talent to choose from. That will give the Flyers 3 1st round picks next year. Only time will tell on how DB uses those picks? |

another reach. Really awful work done by the Flyers. Complete waste of a draft and tons of dead weight still on the roster. As good as last season’s draft was, is how bad this one is. Briere’s honeymoon period is over, and he isn’t moving the needle. |

Worst case scenario: Buium becomes the next Quinn Hughes and Luchenko the next JOB
Best case scenario: Buium isn’t all that and Jett blows it up in Guelph next year and everyone says they missed the boat on this next potentially elite center.
It’s true we don’t know and I for one only know what other people say. The disappointment comes not from personal observation and knowledge for me, but from dozens and dozens of mock drafts and prospect profiles by people who know this stuff better than me. Add that to the fact that I’m a lifetime Flyers fan who has come to generally expect the worst case scenario and things not panning out… well the best I can do it hope (as usual) and keep expectations low.
Who knows, maybe he will become Toews to Michkovs Kane - mikeyo27
its irrelevant what happens to buium now, its done. Except for you guys that will bring this up for years, because you never want to look at anything positive.

all the draft experts in here feigning outrage over not picking kids they just learned about last week. hysterical. i bet most have not watched a single game of any of these guys.
if they spent the assets to move up people would be upset too. There were 3 guys they wanted that got taken before they were up. i don't have a problem with this pick since he seems to be a physical specimen compared to older players at the combine. he might have been lower on many lists because he's younger and only recently moved into a bigger role on his team (so smaller sample size) but with him taking on more responsibility came a 60 point increase. time will tell but it could be a sneaky good pick. he missed the age cutoff by, what? 3 weeks? perhaps would have gone a lot higher next year with a bit more seasoning.
i'm also seeing a lot of folks completely down on Drysdale for some reason. he was a top 5 pick. he just turned 22. I understand the injury history but it's not enough to completely dismiss the kid. plenty of players overcome injuries early on and are fine. give him a full healthy year here before rushing to judgement. If he ends up being as good as advertised then this years pick makes more sense.
perhaps they asked Rizzo about Buium? |
