Transparency for a GM should never be a strong suit. With these situations, injuries, draft plan etc.... Why would they - bradster

If the flyers tanked and lost a few more games we would have had Richardinson but y’all too proud zeev hasn’t played 1 game in the NHL and y’all think he’s better than York and Drysdale was a 6th overall pick and York was gasp 14th lol - 2Real
You are correct, nobody can guarantee that Buium ends up better but that's the same reasoning the Flyers refuse to lose a few more games because nobody can guarantee anything.
You give yourself the best chance to succeed in the future, that's all you can do, and a defensive prospect pool of Buium, Drysdale, and York has a much better chance of one of them succeeding than just Drysdale and York. I for one would like to see Drysdale have 1 healthy year showing growth than what he's shown the last 2+ years before getting on his band wagon.

You mean like Jonesy telling the Fans it's a rebuild and then telling the players that rebuild talk is just for the rubes who buy tickets?

That doesn’t mean they would’ve done it with an Eastern conference rival in the Flyers. Your comments are purely speculative. - Dave21Brown
The Sabres are still laughing hysterically over the Risto trade. If anything, Buffalo owes the Flyers after that trade for doing them a favor. There is ZERO animosity on Buffalo's side towards the Flyers and the 2 are not direct rivals so I doubt that's the case but that's also just my opinion.

With all the assets they currently have if they don’t land Askarov it will be yet another massive fail. There is zero reason not to pursue that trade. You’re supposed to build from the net out, right? Right? |

That's an oversell. They have Ersson, who is young and several quality goalie prospects. That is no where near a must make move.

If it’s a business decision. You qualify him. He’s still a somewhat valuable asset until he’s found guilty. - landros 2
That would be wildly unpopular wrt optics and I suspect the league has instructed the teams not to do this. I agree with you if you’re only looking at it from a business lens though |

I seriously doubt that the league has instructed the teams not to qualify any of the players. If they did so, they would face grievances from the NHLPA.

talking to the converted …my opinion on the Flyers are once again based upon what they do because what they say is proving to be the opposite. |

I find it funny Briere mentioned Emil Andrae as part of the reason for skipping out on Buium. The guy has played a total of 4 NHL games.
Also, the agent argument seems foolish considering Farabee and Sean Walker are represented by the same agent or agency. Why did they trade for Sean Walker and then help resurrect his career as well as (reportedly)have cordial conversations about a possible extension if they felt Gauthiers agent was hard to work with? |

On a side note Kevin Hayes value is getting worse, giving up a 2 rd pick to get rid of him even at 1/2 his salary is not a good look. I didn’t think it would be possible but this makes getting a 7 round pick for him a good trade.
I hope the Flyers made the right call with Jett, awesome name, we wanted Briere to make a bold move and this might have been it. Not picking a consensus top 10 defenseman for a young rising center is a bold move. I just hope he made the right decision. Only time, 3-4 years, will tell.
They must really like the 2025 draft 5 picks in the first 2 rounds! |

You’d think but do you expect any of them to get QO? I don’t. Bettman said there’s no need to suspend them all because they’re all RFA and advised them to concentrate on their legal matters. I don’t think it’s right at all but I think that’s the approach the league is taking. They’re essentially blackballed for now. |

I don't think they're blackballed at all. The league is going to leave it up to the teams decision and I serious doubt that they have offered any instruction to the teams. Other than guidance as to the leagues position as to what would happen if a QO was extended and accepted.

I agree with you. As a side note, our PM chimed in when Montreal picked that kid who had was fined for sharing pictures without a girls consent. My point is it’s politically a bad look. There’s very little appetite for forgiveness towards even young people right now. |

I guess we’ll see. Do you think any of these players get qualified? If not do they get signed as ufa by another team? |

I think projecting him to be the PHI version of Mike Richards (vs the Kings version of Mike Richards that never broke 45 pts) is a very very very optimistic projection that has only become popular since the draft (maybe go with Laughton 2.0) but he is very young and more of an unknown whereas Buium's ceiling is more realistic.
Not saying that both players can't be valuable but unless you are projecting Jett to be the franchise center, in that case the Flyers PR dept all need massive bonuses, a projected #1 defenseman is more valuable hands down.
Again, this is all projected. I am just playing the odds, much like SJ and CHI. No guarantees.

Their careers are on hold until the legal situation is resolved. Teams still need to protect their interests.

well next year is a much deeper draft and we have 3 1st round picks. Don't you think they could get a #1 dman they like better then?

Are they officially suspended? I don’t think so but I may have missed that. Seems like “on hold” status might be outside of what’s written in the CBA but maybe it was agreed upon by the nhlpa and nhl. They’re not allowed to play but not suspended. |
