Just wonder if Swayman is offer sheet eligible. Someone like vegas getting cute and offering him like 11mil per year for one year.
- dothedougie

Vegas doesn't have the picks available to do such a thing lol

That would be worth 4 first round picks and they don't have one for the next two years.

That would be an all time screw job if Swayman signed an offer sheet after they moved Ullmark to pave the way for him.

He will just go play with Ullmark again. Vegas was a bad example.

I really was hoping they would have Swayman signed before dealing Ulmark.
No going back now...

I don't think any RFAs have signed yet?

Most restricted free agents sign after the draft/free agency as RFA qualifying offers were just due on the 30th. Looks like the QO is mandatory and its the beginning of the negotiations.

It will probably be done in the next week or so.

Not trusting anything between Sweeney and Sway (Sweeney just got rid of his two best friends!) until there is a signature on the dotted line.

Swayman has been doing all of the Bruins media stuff (schedule release video). The signing is coming. Not worried in the slightest.

My only worry is that he’s about to be paid too much.

Hoping for something in the neighborhood of $7m x 6 years.
Absolute max would be $8m x 7 years.
Anything above that would be overpay to an RFA.

I am going to guess 8 years at 7.75 per, similar to the contract Lindholm just signed but max term. Probably NMC for the first 5 years, sliding scale on trade list the last 3.

It's in the ballpark. I think Sorokin's deal is going to be the comparable which is 8.25 for 8

and keep in mind that's Lou Lamarillo signing off on that. Not that he's infallible but Uncle Lou doesn't (frank) around. This is the market. Let's be thankful that Shesterkin isn't up and setting the market.

I thought that Swayman would fall somewhere between Sorokin and Saros. Probably puts him at 8, but hoping for more of a Saros number.

It will be interesting to see where they land. I was browsing through a lot of goalie contracts last night and not many goalies sign long term for big money as a RFA. Vasilievsky I believe was the one exception i found and he had just won the Stanley Cup. Saros and Sorokin were both approaching UFA status.

Honest question. Would you rather a 3x6M contract to see what he's made of when he has the full workload (then a UFA contract) or 8x7.5 now?

3x6 100%

he's only had 3 sheltered seasons. Would like to see him perform as a full starter for a while before giving him max term at higher cap hit.

This. I would love to see this. Just the reality of the way the last few years have been is RFA's getting big contracts. Especially if they perform after arbitration.

Would love to see a shorter term for some money. But Sway has already gotten the third degree from this management group. First the signing of ullmark AND bringing back Rask where he was sent down even though he was outperforming both. Short term because of Rask's departure, but still relevant. Then the split time with Ullmark the second year and an arbitration hearing despite a good regular season showing. Now a great regular season, and unbelievable playoff.

I personally dont believe Swayman has anything to prove. He has paid his dues and the time has come for his reward. Would it be nice for him to do short term to "prove himself" as a starter for a full year. Sure. But that isn't going to sit well if that is what Sweeney is pushing for in my opinion.

Pay the kid now. I think the risk with him is lower than your average goalie. Its not like he is looking to get paid after one great year. He has repeated good performance.

Fully agree the 3x6 is not likely to happen.

Was just answering the question.

I wish it would happen though. Would be better for the short term. Oh well. We will see what happens when they finally hammer it out.

I agree, to me (and no doubt Sway), that would be an insult offer.

Edit: And he already played a prove it year after "winning" in arbitration. Look at where he ended up stat wise in the post season against a strong Leafs team and then the eventual cup winner.

I lean towards this. The game has never been healthier and the cap is rising. This would be a bargain by the end of it. NYR and Shesterkin will do something very dumb and break the market next off season.
