Ffs, Leafs signed RD Hakanpaa 2y, 1.5m AAV… Drury is asleep at the wheel here. Thats a deal we should have made. 196 hits 123 blocked shots last year, 6’6 225lbs - aecliptic
Hakanpaa is a 32 year old 3rd pairing defenseman coming off a serious knee injury. I'm not sure this guy is what we're looking for unless we're looking for a traffic cone.
If he was a bit younger and fully healthy ---- then he's PERFECT! Sadly, I'm not sure that is the case... |

Lockerroom likes him. But does trouba want to be here now after being told to go (frank) yourself you're out - nyrangers2
Tough spot for sure. I think at the end of the day once emotions cool off a bit, Trouba understands it’s business. They were talking about it on ESPN before about how Trouba and his agent didn’t make it easy for the NYR to sign him bc they had the leverage and that’s why his AAV is slightly higher than it should be. Now the Rangers have a bit of leverage with the limited NTC and they’re doing what they think they need to do. |

Statistically, he looks like he would have been a good fit for our 3rd RD. Didnt know about the injury. |

Wouldnt it be easier to relocate with a new born rather than a kid in school with friends and stuff? |

Girgensons for 3x850k with TBL. That would’ve been nice |

If Drury had a deal close for Trouba it died on the vine today. He cannot keep shopping him around. It’s done, he’ll be a Ranger on opening night. |

Drury just throws darts at the board without a real plan. He’s demolished our draft capital, made uninspiring moves in doing so, Kane Roslovic Wennberg Smith Copp etc etc almost as a, “look I did something” rather than having an actual plan.
The year we got Copp we weren’t ready to compete. It was clear as day and don’t start the whole but we made it to the ECF. We played backup goalies getting extremely lucky the entire way.
Anyone with a brain could see Kane wasn’t what we needed last year, even more so after we got Tarasenko.
Roslovic and Wennberg were the leftovers and not moves that put you over the top and Smith is the same. He panicked, felt like he had to do something, so he paid a 2nd and 5th for a guy that just got traded elsewhere for a 3rd.
He’s done nothing to improve the future of this team and is more worried about his own future he doesn’t care about mortgaging the Rangers. - nyrangers9479

I’ve always disliked Drury. I’ve said it multiple times over the years, I don’t think he’s a good GM and I don’t think he has a plan. With that being said, I actually still want this team to be good unlike you. |

I know you feel cheated of a proper tear down and rebuild from the ground up. However, people seem to forget, between 2017 and 2020 we had 4 top 10 picks, including a 2nd and 1st overalls, 8 1st round picks in total. Thats usually enough to kick start a rebuild. However… Lias and Kravtsov are cans, Chytil is now in his 7th year of cheerleaders saying “just wait its coming”, Kakko is a bonafide 3rd liner unless some miracle happens, Nils got drafted so 7 years later we can see Gabe Perreault. |

Well he can leverage his ntc for those reasons. Just like Drury is for his while it’s not a full BMC anymore
Also I have 3 daughters, a new born doesn’t impact your job yet. He’s actually probably better living closer to his parents for help back home in Detroit lol
The wife’s job plays a factor |

Also, the Rempe affect is in full swing in NJ. Cotter and Dillon added this year and McDermid last season. They also drafted a 6’7 dman that plays physical also. That could just be he was a guy they liked in that range (projected around there anyway) but they’re definitely becoming a more physical team. Added Noeson also who plays with an edge. |

I know it’s only one day but man this has been one of the most disappointing July 1st in some time. Last year I didn’t mind cause they had zero cap space. But I thought there was a plan to move Trouba and make the necessary moves to push this core over the top. Maybe Reilly smith works out but just seems like he was a late pivot once Drury realized he had no chance to bid in this market
Still have time to make moves, but now it has to come strictly through trades. Rangers don’t have many great assets to move. Just not sure how this all pans out anymore. Hopefully Drury can prove me wrong and finds a way. This was supposed to be an all in season with so many questions starting next summer |

I think the reason it hasnt happened yet is possibly because Yzerman is playing hardball and realizes Drury is in a very tough position now. Thus possibly trying to negotiate something Drury may not want. |

Based of brooks latest update trouba may stay bc of his wife’s residency. Low expectations heading into next season |

Meaning he wants to stay? Bc end of the day there’s 15 teams we could trade him to. Also, I’m completely fine with him staying, he’s not the problem. |

The problem was never really Trouba, it was his contract being a bit too rich for what we were getting. |
