And he's made money. Nothing like signing a deal that will help the team build a Cup winning roster, although they have done pretty well so far.

I know Barry was not GM of the Islanders but the Islanders with a hall of fame GM and coach still could not sign quality UFA's. Barry becomes GM of the Preds and signs everyone.

Correct.

Drury is at fault. Who helped make him captain? Who's been unable to trade him? Who made Trouab's wife a priority at the ceremony. Who's wilting to the wife and player demands?

The often celebrated, rarely worthy Chris Drury. Chris Drury has been a Rangers problem for almost 2 decades. Enough of this guy.

i said it the day they made him captain. Whether they are intentionally doing it or subconsciously doing it, they are doing it to help justify that bonkers contract. He doesn't play like an $8m defenseman in any real way, but the "leadership" makes up the difference. Not sure how much of that came from Drury's mind alone. Probably a mass hysteria type deal.

It just hasn’t worked out here. If he stays they can’t improve and not much to really look fwd to this season. He’ll get moved next summer. But never give out these clauses unless a player is top 10 in their role. Just bad business

I've often wondered what the break point would be for his contract to not be the biggest problem on the team. Like at what AAV would he have been an afterthought? I'd say $5m, which would still be an overpay but way more tolerable.

So he didn’t sign him, is trying to trade him but if he stays it’s still Chris’s faultJust getting the rules down

I'm going to respond here because there's some semblance of actual, good faith, discourse. Wrong as it may be.

By all accounts Trouba has positive trade equity, as unbelievable as that feels, and there was at least one team (Detroit) willing to make a trade. The holdup appears to be Trouba's attitude towards being traded (well within his rights). If the team(s) that may want him who also are not on his no trade list are worried that the $8m man they are trading for doesn't want to be there that would obviously put them off. The only things Drury could do here if a trade does not materialize are waive him or buy him out. Neither of which should or could happen right now. If the possibility of a trade completely dries up, plans b and c should be the next steps.

- picklerick

The way I understood the Brooks article yesterday was that Trouba would pretty much flat-out refuse to report to anywhere he was traded due to the residency situation of his wife's employment. I don't think teams are afraid of him not wanting to be there, I think they're afraid they're going to give up assets and he's just going to pull a Kirk Muller and refuse to play.

I've taken a new tact with him. Ignore all of the desperate attempts to elicit emotional responses from people so he can feel something inside of his black, lonely, soul and just hit on the actual hockey related takes buried deep, deep, beneath them. I'm trying anything here.

The problem is Trouba needs to grow a pair of marriage balls!!
- Slimtj100

This whole narrative that it’s his wife’s fault is a sad spin and total click bait. How would anyone on twitter even find that very personal info out? It’s garbage.

I’m so (frank)ing done with the fans of this team (especially a select few here).

Semantics really. Teams who would otherwise be interested in trading for him probably will not pull the trigger if he doesn't want to be there or straight up refuses to.

The best thing is just ignore all posts like everyone did 3-4 days ago. He was trying but nothing was happening and was posting less and less. That's the best approach.

Tell me, and slowly this time. What. Is. The. AAV?

Also did Lou have to trade 2 picks to get Duclair at a lower cap hit? I think not.

Do you want Reilly Smith for 1 more year or Anthony Duclair for 4? Tell me, and slowly this time. I don't want any other answer other than "Mr. Rick, i would prefer Smith" or "Mr. Rick, i would prefer Duclair". Then we can talk. Otherwise, this is just bad faith baitin'
